"What a relaxing, peaceful, yet adventurous time we had. Four of us (one couple and two singles) spent three nights in this luxurious "villa," which is a tropical, open-air mansion on a hillside in the jungle. We had our own large and very clean rooms to choose from with several others to spare. During the day, we hiked to two different waterfalls near the villa (the adventure part!), and at night, we enjoyed the serenity of the hot tub and swimming pool. We were lulled to sleep by frogs and awakened by birds and a couple howler monkeys in the distance. Also mention-worthy was the delicious and hearty Costa Rican-style breakfast made by a staff member in the villa's kitchen. We had full access to the kitchen during our stay, and we made our own lunches and dinners. The on-site caretaker and the remote host were always available and quick to answer any questions we had. This was the vacation we needed, and we were so lucky we chose the perfect place to stay."

"Lamangata was one of the best stays I've ever had. The property sits high in the hills above the jungle with views all the way to the ocean, and the infinity pool looking out over the valley is unreal, especially at sunrise and sunset. The team plans everything for you. Each morning a hand-drawn chalkboard lists the tide times, meals and the day's activities, so all we had to do was show up. Our surf instructor started us off in the pool before taking us out in the ocean, which made learning feel easy and safe. They also set up a zipline and a trip to the Nauyaca waterfalls, and the transport ran right on time. The food was a highlight: fresh, colorful and made from scratch every day. Avocado toast, tacos, poke bowls, shrimp ceviche, BBQ ribs. Everything was delicious. The rooms are beautiful, with warm wood, stone sinks, soft lighting and a walk-in shower, and they were spotless. The common areas feel open and calm. What really set it apart was the staff. They were warm and attentive and made us feel like family. On our last day they gave us printed photos from the trip with a thank-you note, a touch we'll never forget. I can't recommend it enough and can't wait to come back."

"What an amazing piece of paradise! The property is stunning and the staff is very friendly and informative. I would say a 4x4 vehicle is required, especially in the rainy season. We saw tons of birds and enjoyed listening to the howler monkeys in the morning from the porch. I would definitely stay again and refer my friends!"
