The breakfasts were wonderful in variety, always warm, and the variety of beverages was great. The staff was very friendly and really looked after us. Everything was always clean and the staff was very welcoming. Being located next to the Rabbit Shrine was an unexpected delight. I just wish we could have had a double bed.

It was great , but in the end I was about 10 minutes late to get out of the room. The Frond desk called me to enhance my leave in 10 minus, which I was thinking anyway. The tone of his talk was a bit forceful as if I was not leaving the rightful matter. Considering I paid in full when I got in the previous day, I thought they were rude, which I told them.

Hotel was quite nice. Easy enough to get to and free shuttle to Kyoto station was good. The problem is the hotel has very thin walls and you can hear talking from the rooms next door as well as noise from above and below. The laundry service is very expensive so they should have self use laundry facilities. There are a lot of tour bus tours coming through so constantly busy and loud. Lastly, Expedia says they show the final cost of the stay however when checking out you are charged an additional tax per day (400¥) of your stay, whilst it’s not an exorbitant amount it would be good to know up front or for Expedia to tell you about this. Despite the above we’d still stay here again.

With parking, pay parking fee 1,000 per night / double room Bigger than a single bed But cheaper, clean, good looking and there is a convenience store right across the hotel just across the crosswalk.

Wonderful location. Plentiful breakfast buffet with both eastern & western style dishes. Japanese style room was more like a suite with comfortable western style beds.

The rooms are a bit bigger than the city hotels. It is an old hotel and nothing to do during night time so this is not good for a younger crowd. Our luck wasn’t on our side during our stay, our security box in the room was openned twice during our stay and in the second time money was stolen from us. The hotel offered to give half back from our stay but it was just frustrating that something like this happened and since we needed to leave back to USA it was pointless to do a police report.

Great hotel
Location is near the Philosopher's Walk. They provide a free shuttle service to and from Kyoto which is great. The driver even takes a different scenic route to the station every day which is a bonus and like a free tour. Room is large and comfortable. Staff are helpful and friendly. The hotel buffet restaurant is terrible and not recommended.

The hotel was close to a small grocery store that was convenient for us when we needed a quick snack. The service was great. One thing that I wished was better was the amenities for the room. There was no hand lotion but this was very minor. We enjoyed our stay.

The hotel wasn’t fancy but my room was clean and nice. The room was decently sized and had a nice shower. I’d stay here again. It’s located close to many sightseeing sites but far from a train station.

The hotel was good japanese style room withbed and tatami on floor. Nice view from the big window. But the only thing is that you need to take a bus ride for 15-20 minutes to reach the city center

Worn out hotel with lovely staff
I haven't had a bad customer service experience in Japan and this place was no exception with lovely, helpful staff with decent English. However the facilities themselves can best be described as depleted. The lobby itself looks inviting enough, and my first impression of the room was positive. However once I got to the bathroom the shine disappeared. It looks like it was built in the 80s and hasn't been renovated since. Cracked sinks, leaky taps, rusty fittings, worn out floors, battered toilet and altogether in desperate need of renovation. In the room itself the fixtures and fittings are newer than the bathroom by a perhaps a decade which still makes them old and overused. It was dirty, just aged. For the money you're better off elsewhere.

Nice location with pleasant staff and good price
It is easy to travel to see all the sights by bus #100, 203,204 and 5. The room is quite roomy and clean except the bath room. There are molds and mildews around the bath tub, on the wall and around the sink on the grout. The front desk staff offered another room, but we turned it down. It is too much trouble to move around.

This Hotel's staff was very helpful and generous and the hotel itself, tho a bit worn about the edges was just fine. the location was nice with the help of our GPS phone maps easier to navigate with bus transit. It is located near many Temples and gardens as well as fine neighborhood cafes and restaurants if you ventured off the main road- which we did. The room was clean tho smoking abounds in Japan and you still get second hand smoke. Wifi is only in the lobby as in most Japanese hotels. Timing was not on our side with a group sharing the Sento so we did not get to use it. But overall I found it an enjoyable stay.

Nice hotel at a reasonable price
Good location and good value for money. The breakfast a little expensive for what it offers The location is very good for visiting the east part of Kyoto. Next to the hotel you can find a very good coffeeshop. Gion is not far so you can go there for some drinks or dinner

Get the Japanese room
Hotel is nice. The location is wrong that hotels.com give. Co ordinates lead to someone's house which was very inconvenient so find it on a map before hand. Hotel was good value for money and next door to a Shrine. I recommend the hotel overall. It's close to the silver temple

I am single non smoker and requested a non smoking room, because of late booking I had to take a supposedly non smoking twin, at almost 16000 yen and at that price did expect it to be a room from which it appeared from the smell the ashtrays had only been removed a week or two previously.. It stank of cigarettes, the furnishings and the very scuffed walls were obviously of 1980s vintage, bed comfortable but flowery quilted shiny bedspreads, a real throw back, tired stained old carpets and long time un decorated hence the reek. Bathroom was fine, clean and well maintained. Overall hotel very dated. location good for philosophers walk area and silver pavilion, no night life in the area at all, and limited choice around for breakfast if you did not want to shell out for hotel breakfast. There was a direct bus from station would be helpful if they told you that in the advert - no5.

Acceptable hotel, but it had seen better days.
The hotel is situated within walking distance from the Philsopher's Path, and Heian Jingu Shrine. It is also next to a nice hill, at the foot of which is a temple for childbearing god in the shape of a rabbit. The hotel, however, is old. Its decor is from the 1960s, and the condition of the rooms and restrooms reflect so. The rooms are clean enough, and are very big in comparison to more modern hotels in Kyoto where space utilization is more "optimized." So, if you like a hotel with big rooms with a view, at an okay location, this is for you (if you don't mind old furnishing, and creaky furniture).

Hotel is old and quite worn around the edges, with old fashioned rooms and hard, uncomfortable beds. Location is ok (it overlooks one of Kyoto's many temples) but a bit of a hike from all metro stations (incl. Kyoto Station) and Gion. Service was good (to be expected in Japan).

施設全体が古く、隣りの話しの内容まで聞こえました。 大浴場では外国人観光客２名が水着を着て入浴していて脱衣所でも水着から水がすたっていて水浸しで、危うく滑って転びそうになりました。 見かねてフロントに伝えましたが、どのような対応をしているかも不明。二度と泊まらないです。
