A small hotel of traditional type, but of new date. The overall area is just too small for everything, starting with the lobby where there is no space to put down more than two suitcases (or, of you do, nobody can pass by). The room we had was supposed to be for three people, but it was just too small even for two (although we are not oversized). Bathroom is a special story, an exercise in how to fit everything on 1 square metre.
This being a Ryokan, it is not recommended for those who suffer from bad back. The futon bed is a thin one, so you may end up with a hip pain when you get up in the morning.
Location is the best thing about the hotel - roughly 100 m from the Kyoto station. Since the bus station is by Kyoto station, this means that you are within immediate reach of the transport network for travelling both around Kyoto and long distance.
