Traditional room with good location
Lovely traditional Japanese room in a 3 story Ryokan on a quiet street a short walk from the train station. The host was exceptionally welcoming and spoke fluent English and was more than helpful during our stay. Definitely recommend for a few nights authentic Japanese accommodation.

They provided us with a smartphone with 4G for free, it came with the room which is really convenient for using Google maps to get around Kyoto. They also have a washer and dryer guests can use which is nice. Overall the room was pretty average but nice enough for a place to sleep.

Great little Ryokan experience
Had a shortened stay due to a Typhoon. Staff at Ebisu were very communicative re our unexpected change in travel plans. Fab little Ryokan with all the necessities (for first time Ryokan visitors don't expect a lot of furniture) and some good service (spoke very good English). Well located to Kyoto station.

Friendly staff and a comfortable place to stay.
It is a traditional Japanese accomodation. The staff is very nice and friendly. She speaks english quite well and willing to help out. The place is small but comfortable to stay. I actually like it because of its culture and tradition. It is also quite close to a mall and Kyoto station.

Ryokans are not for me, I guess
I don't think Ryokans are for me especially without an Onsen or Sento on site. The rooms were tiny and yet had three mattresses taking up the space. I'm not a fan of sitting on the floor.

Great Staff at a Quaint Ryokan.
This was my first stay at a Ryokan. The room was a little small but all of our basic needs were met. The staff was VERY helpful providing advice on restaurants, shrines and temples. They also offered free use of a mobile hotspot and bicycles. I recommend this ryokan!

Standard Ryokan, nothing stands out
It was a standard ryokan, as far as I know. The walls were quite thin, so it could get noisy in the morning, and there isnt much in terms of help for those staying. On the bright side, it's not too far from Kyoto Station and the beds were surprisingly comfy.

Short walk to Kyoto Station and great friendly staff who showed us how to use everything on check-in. Beautifully presented traditional feeling room (we had the double room with ensuite, which had a bidet) Mats, pillows and doona super comfy. They had some great complimentary services too, umbrellas and handy smart phone.

A ryokan that is close to malls and public transports makes it an ideal choice for visitors seeking convenience. As it is a ryokan provided at an affordable price, don't expect big space including washroom. You do get private washroom which is already a good thing. It's small but functional. Room is the same as well. But if you are out all day, the room provides the comfort at the end of the day for a good night rest.

Decent hotel / ryokan stay. The receptionist speaks decent English and helpful. The place is not easiest to find. I could not find New Miyako Hotel as indicated on the map but someone found this place.

Hotel is about 10mins walk from Kyoto Station. Hotel staff is friendly and informative. Room is very clean and Awesome experience wearing their Japanese pyjamas and slept on futons.

Thumbs up to Ebisu team who helped us so much in solving our problems. We will definitely come back again. We spent three nights at Ebisu during our stay in Kyoto and on our last night my father dropped his wallet at the nearby Aeon mall without noticing until the next morning while we were rushing to catch our return flight. Without much hope we dropped an email to Ebisu for help. The great Ebisu team helped us through the journey by contacting the mall, collecting wallet from police station and shipping/wiring back our wallet and money. We really appreciate them and would like to recommend their service to all our friends and Hotels customers!

An excellent ryokan experience
Excellent quiet location that is near to Kyoto Station with nearby launderette. Staff are helpful and speak good English. Room is spacious and clean. The tatami bedding is surprisingly comfortable even for a heavy man like me.

A fantastic experience!
Fantastic experience! We were looked after, even before we arrived! The hotel sent us a welcome email with instructions on photos showing how to find ryokan. The location is five minutes walk from the station in a quiet residential area. When we arrived the lady at reception took us to our room and explained the facilities and also how to access some of the best things in Kyoto. If we have the chanc, we will gladly stay here again.

Great for first timers
We stayed at Ebisu Ryokan for 2 nights in Kyoto, and were able to see most of the city with the recommended day pass. The walk to Kyoto Station was about 10-15 minutes, and the price was very reasonable. 2 futon beds and a good bathroom + shower with lots of room. We enjoyed our stay here a lot and the staff was very helpful in both English and Chinese.

Wonderful experience
Great staff, lovely traditional room, spacious and was lovely having a tea set and yukata in the room. A nice touch that we could borrow bikes and pocket wifi

The only dislike is the bathroom which is a bit too small. Overall it is till not a bad choice for group of 4 of us to stay on this hotel.

A great Japanese Experience
A great place to stay and get great Japanese hospitality for a great price. The staff was so welcoming and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Plus having a quick list of big things to see while in Kyoto and having free access to bikes were a plus. 5 stars! We would definitely book there again!

Very close to the train station.
The ryokan was how I expected it to be, traditional and comfortable. It is not more than 5 minutes away from the train station and the shopping centre. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. The facilities are very clean and well equipped Overall I was very pleased with my stay..

Small and cozy
Ebisu ryokan is conveniently located about 5 minutes walking from Kyoto station (With the station behind you, you will see Avina hotel and another green hotel sign on your left, to the right there is a parking lot, go to the alley to the right of the parking lot and you will find Ebisu pretty soon). The room we stayed in definitely was on the smaller side but sufficient for 2 people. What we enjoyed the most was the service and friendliness of the staff. They answered all our questions tirelessly and were very patient. It was definitely a plus that they were fluent in different languages.

Loved this place....quiet neighborhood, walking distance to the train, so many amenities it is had to know where to start! The staff is extraordinarily helpful and informative!!! The gifts available were awesome and reasonable! For a true Japanese experience this is a must!

Centrally located hotel in Kyoto
A small hotel of traditional type, but of new date. The overall area is just too small for everything, starting with the lobby where there is no space to put down more than two suitcases (or, of you do, nobody can pass by). The room we had was supposed to be for three people, but it was just too small even for two (although we are not oversized). Bathroom is a special story, an exercise in how to fit everything on 1 square metre. This being a Ryokan, it is not recommended for those who suffer from bad back. The futon bed is a thin one, so you may end up with a hip pain when you get up in the morning. Location is the best thing about the hotel - roughly 100 m from the Kyoto station. Since the bus station is by Kyoto station, this means that you are within immediate reach of the transport network for travelling both around Kyoto and long distance.

A new ryokan near to Kyoto station.
A new ryokan near to Kyoto station less than ten minutes walk. We stay in a twin room at level three. A small room with small toilet and bath room. Ok for us as we are not so tall and big in size. Need to get use to the tap as it is used for the shower as well as the basin. Good internet connection. Over all is fine. Staff are friendly.

Good Ryokan, close to the station.
We stayed for 4 nights. Nothing to complain about, everything was good. The reception staff are extremely helpful, and speak english. Rooms are clean and very true to the ryokan style. Futons are a bit hard on a soft european, but I guess thats the same everywhere. Yukatas (a sort of kimono) are for sale there, and available for everyone to use during their stay at the Ryokan - it is even recommended to wear it in public.

Best decision ever!
Staying in Ebisu Ryokan was my best decision, and would definitely stay here again whenever I had a chance to visit Kyoto again. The ryokan looked neat from the outside and also the inside especially my room's bathroom. It wasn't too spacious but designed in a way that made it looked compact and well-thought. Overall stay was super...and if they can give daily mineral water just like hotels that would be even better! But those are minors, my stay was great already! Well done! :)

No chairs, stairs are too steep. Futon is too hard. All staff are very nice. I hope they serve breakfast with that price.
