Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kravik?
The best area to stay in Kravik is the Kravikfjord area, particularly around the villages of Kravik and Norefjord.

This area is the heart of Kravik, known for its stunning natural beauty and traditional Norwegian culture. It's centred around the picturesque Kravikfjord, a narrow lake surrounded by rolling hills and forests. The main road, Fv40, runs along the fjord, connecting the small settlements. You'll find a scattering of traditional farms, guesthouses, and a few local shops.

For couples seeking a tranquil escape, the guesthouses located along the Kravikfjord offer an idyllic setting. Many accommodations provide direct access to the fjord, superb for kayaking or gentle walks along the shore. The peaceful environment is ideal for reconnecting and enjoying nature.

Families will find the Norefjord side of the Kravikfjord particularly appealing. Here, you're closer to activities like the Norefjord Ski Centre (in winter) and hiking trails suitable for various ages.
When is the best time to go to Kravik?
The best time to visit Kravik, Buskerud, Norway, is during the summer months from June to August for the warmest weather and longest daylight hours.

During this period, temperatures are generally mild, ranging from 15°C to 25°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and exploring the Kravikfjord. The extended daylight, including the famous "midnight sun" phenomenon in the northern parts of Norway (though less pronounced in Kravik, you'll still enjoy very long days), allows for more time to enjoy the natural surroundings.

Couples looking for a romantic and scenic getaway will appreciate the summer. You can enjoy boat trips on the fjord, take leisurely walks through the picturesque countryside, and dine al fresco with views of the water. The lush green landscapes and blooming wildflowers add to the beauty of the region.

Solo travellers seeking adventure and connection with nature will find summer particularly appealing. With the hiking trails fully accessible and various outdoor excursions available, it's an excellent time for exploring the wilderness.
