"We had a wonderful stay at this bezutiful hotel. It was somewhat remote via train but once there the charm and natural beauty of the area made it all worthwhile. Our room was a suite in traditional Japanese style. It was immaculate with many amenities. The buffet breakfast and dinners were of excellent quality and variety. We can highly recommend the hotel and its most helpful staff. The free shuttle to the station made our departure carefree. Arigato! "

"This hotel was a great little find. Very affordable and comfortable. A business hotel so they had laundry service in Japanese public bath on site. Matsumoto is a cute little town and very walkable from the hotel. Also, the hotel is literally two blocks from Matsumoto castle, a great location."

"The location and venue was absolutely perfect. Only a short walk to the bus terminal, the hotel allowed me to park my car before checking in. Our room had its own onsen tub and it was so clean and up-to-date. The food was just okay… but I was happy overall with the service and everything else, that it did not matter. "

"La Terra Resort is a unique and beautiful crafted, peaceful boutique hotel that we had a delight to stay at during our outdoors exploration, and trek along parts of the Nakesando Trail. La Terra Resort didn’t disappoint, nestled amongst a beautiful quiet valley setting, tucked under the edge of the forest canopy and surrounded by farmed land, land that served to us our daily meals, with fresh homegrown produce. La Terra Resort’s owner Silva and his fantastic staff, each went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Silva even personally introduced us to local pottery makers and took us to various attractions around the picturesque areas of Shirojiri. We especially enjoyed our short trek (2+ hours) down from the local waterfalls, following the river trail through amazing peaceful nature walks back to the resort. We would love to thank everyone in the team for making us feel so at home, feeding us amazing meals at both breakfast and dinner, from; La Terra’s visionary host and founder; Silva Sharonda (owner), to the fantastic welcoming party and exceptional service hosts of the staff Mogu, Duminda & Dian and chefs. "Our experience was wonderful. We had almost no idea what to expect at Kamanuma - we just wanted to experience a traditional style Japanese Onsen and visit the beautiful Kiso valley. From the moment the chef/co-owner (brothers) picked us up at the train station, and all through the stay, the staff were very kind and helpful. Their focus is on a relaxing stay, with quiet tatami matt rooms, a peaceful tea-stocked central lobby, and separate hot/cold baths for men and women. Baths open all day to onsen guests. What really blew us away was the veritable feast they presented for both dinner (at 6) and breakfast (at 8). A dozen items were served at each meal, comprised of local fish, prepared produce, and sake, as well as soup, miso, pickles, rice, natto, seaweed salad, pork, red deer, omelette, and more (these were summertime selections). We were the only non-Japanese there (they said they have primarily Japanese clientele, and learned and enjoyed it so much. Highly recommend!"

"I've used this hotel many times for more than one week at a time, but they never greet me such as "Welcome back!" or "Thank you for using the hotel always." They are always too business like. I hope they are a bit more friendly. The hotel is very comfortable to stay though!"

"It’s all about dogs there. Love how the Japanese love their furkids. Hygiene measures, dog runs, dog onsen with humans, dogs can access everywhere in this hotel, even the restaurants."

"We are the repeaters. This the rare co-ed onsen which allows you to go in with your friends and family. The onsen was filled with milky warm water so that you can stay in long hours and enjoy other people's company. Very relaxing environment surrounded by mountains. The food was omakase and very good. We enjoyed all of the local cuisine items with great beer and sake. "
