1. Chateau hotel Zbiroh

Zbiroh

"Staying at Chateau Zbiroh was a wonderful and unique experience! Even the standard room was quite spacious, so there was no feeling of being cramped. Staying in a real castle is a special experience in itself, and the peaceful, quiet atmosphere made it even more enjoyable. I highly recommend joining the castle tour, as it gives you a much better understanding of the hotel’s fascinating history and makes your stay even more meaningful. The restaurant was another highlight of our stay. The food...

"Listed as a “Luxury Hotel” - this is not a Luxury hotel. More a camping resort & SPA with rooms. There are often maintenance issues in a hotel, what matters is how they are handled. I expected the below to be resolved in hours, but it took three days: • Batteries in A/C (not actually air conditioning) remote - after asking 3 times was given the batteries out of the unit in reception. • No shower gel in shower - asked 3 times. Design issues: • Shower - no shelving, everything has to go on...

"Decent hotel with a restaurant in a central location. Parking was also available"

Boutique Hotel Corso & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"We don’t want people to find out about this place… we love it and want it to stay affordable! The 2nd time we have stayed here, a great alternative to central Prague if you prefer somewhere a little quieter. close to the train station with good connections. We love the village too, a good restaurant and a few locals bars that are open until late. The rooms are modern, comfy beds, big high ceilings and windows, great breakfast facilities. Please don’t go here..: because we want to keep it a secret for ourselves 😆"

Your private retreat in the heart of Bohemia, in the middle of the natural paradise of Křivoklátsko

10/10 Excellent

"Wir waren als Großfamilie mit Kindern dort. Das Haus ist sehr individuell und charmant, der Garten mit Grillplatz bietet einen tollen Ausblick und Entdeckungsmöglichkeiten für die Kinder. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet- Geschirrspülertabs, Backpapier und co sind vorhanden. Kurzfristige Fragen an den Vermieter wurden sehr schnell beantwortet."

U Prejzků

8/10 Good

"We had a lovely stay at U Prejzku. The apartment is charming, with large bedrooms and unique vintage decor, including old sewing machines and weighing scales, which really adds character. The property was very warm, making clothes dry easily, and the garden is fantastic for kids— I imagine it's absolutely stunning in summer with pool access. Cleanliness was generally good, though the washing machine and shower had black stains that wouldn’t wipe off, and the kitchen door frame seal was loose and swinging. The sofa is worn and uncomfortable, and the toaster could do with replacing. The TV is Czech language only; a smart TV with apps like YouTube or Netflix would be a great addition for international guests. Supplies such as washing-up liquid, cloths, and toilet paper were provided, which was appreciated, and parking was available for our hire. The property felt safe, with both the main and apartment doors locked, and keys provided to residents. Location is excellent—about 45 minutes to central Prague, very easy to visit Prague Zoo, and local trains run every 30 minutes if needed. Staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, gave us a tour on arrival, and were very responsive via the app whenever we had questions or needed confirmation. Overall, a lovely apartment with character, great rooms, brilliant outdoor space, and friendly service, though some amenities could use updating."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Komárov?

The best area to stay in Komárov is within the village centre, particularly around the main square, for its convenience and access to local amenities.

The village centre is the heart of Komárov. It's a compact area with a few local shops, restaurants, and the municipal office. You'll find the historic Komárov Chateau nearby, which adds a touch of local character. The main square serves as a central point, making it easy to navigate.

Couples looking for a quiet retreat will appreciate the village centre. It offers a relaxed pace, with opportunities for gentle strolls through the village and surrounding countryside. The handful of local eateries provide a taste of regional cuisine in a pleasant setting.

For travellers interested in exploring the surrounding Central Bohemia region, staying in the village centre offers a practical base.

When is the best time to go to Komárov?

The best time to visit Komárov is during the late spring (May to June) or early autumn (September to October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

During these shoulder seasons, you'll experience mild temperatures, ideal for exploring the surrounding Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area and its numerous hiking and cycling trails. The natural beauty of the area is particularly striking with the spring blossoms or the vibrant autumn colours, offering excellent photographic opportunities. This period is superb for couples or solo travellers looking for an active, outdoor-focused holiday without the peak summer heat or tourist numbers.

The summer months of July and August are also popular, offering the warmest weather, which is great for enjoying outdoor activities and swimming in nearby natural swimming spots. However, this is also the busiest time, so you can expect more visitors and potentially higher prices for accommodation. Families often find the summer months most convenient due to school holidays, with plenty of space for children to play and explore the natural surroundings.

Winter, from November to April, sees colder temperatures and the possibility of snow, which can be picturesque but limits some outdoor activities.
