Merkland Cross, Kirtlebridge The Merkland Cross (Historic Scotland) is a fine 15th century 3m/9.9ft high wayside cross complete with floriated head. Its commemoration is unknown. The cross stands just above the southbound carriageway of the A74(M) near Kirtlebridge.

Clean and tidy hotel, very warm welcome at front reception. Lovely to be handed a proper door key rather than a digital keycard. Swimming pool small but clean and warm temperature and the hot tub was delightful. Great access to local pedestrianised shopping area.
