Great Stay! I was a little concerned with past reviews but figured out that the bad reviews were from the previous hotel. This is a newly taken over Home 2 and what you’d expect from a great Hilton family! It is exactly what we were looking for! Beautiful Oceanfront room with a balcony, kitchenette and easy parking! Room was clean and staff was amazing! We will be back anytime we are in the Outer Banks area!
Pros: The recent renovations are beautiful—the room was very clean, modern, and stylish. The pool area was lovely, and the direct beach access was definitely one of the highlights of our stay.
Cons: Unfortunately, there were several issues that affected our experience. We weren’t informed until after check-in that the BBQs were out of service, which was frustrating since we had already purchased food to cook.
We also discovered that the kitchen sink leaked badly onto the floor whenever it was used. The front desk explained that there were no maintenance staff on site, so a manager came to our room. His solution was to place a towel around the leak and later bring us a bucket to catch the water. While we appreciated the quick response, the issue was never actually repaired, and no other accommodation or compensation was offered.
The unit was also missing some basic amenities. There was no clothesline on the balcony for drying beach towels or swimsuits, and there were no clothes hangers in the room.
Housekeeping was another disappointment. After the first 24 hours, our room had not been serviced, and we had to call the front desk to request more toilet paper, soap, fresh towels, and for the floor to be swept. It appeared that daily housekeeping and restocking were not provided or communicated to guests.
Overall, this hotel has a lot of potential. The updated rooms, pool, and beach access are excellent, but better communication, maintenance, and housekeeping would make a si
They were misleading about the ocean view. I thought I’d have a wonderful view but instead looked directly into a dune. If I looked up and over there was some water. I called to ask if I could be moved to à higher floor. The gentleman replied that Hilton certified it as an ocean view so have a nice day. And there were no other rooms available. Thought I’d watch tv then, but the living room tv did not work. Disappointing stay

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
No problems with checking in - the guy was very nice and helpful. The hotel was only open for three months after being closed for a year and a half for remodeling. We were on the first floor (the elevator was broke, which didn't affect us) away from the lobby and had no noise issues, though we got there later and were getting up earlier. The hotel is right next to the beach with a short walking path through the dune at the corner of the property.
Our room was a 2-full bedroom with a sofa bed. It would have been nice if there were 2-queen beds available as at other Home2 Suites, but the 6 of us made do. There were a couple of water bottles waiting for us in the room, and it was clean. It was bright and modern decorated, as we expected with Home2. We had a full window wall with a door going to a small fenced-in patio. The door was tricky to lock and the blackout curtain left a gap that sunlight came in through the morning and woke me up a little earlier than I would have liked. The shower had an upper head and a lower wand, but the hole for the wand was cut bigger than the backing and fairly visible - a potential mold issue down the road. I slept on the sofa bed - I could feel the bar, but was able to sleep. The room was cold enough.
Breakfast was great, though served in a small room that felt too crowded. Waffle station, muffins and bagels, grits, and a great hot section with bacon, sausages, egg patties, potato wedges, big biscuits, and delicious cheesy spinach danishes.
- clean and well maintained hotel. Helpful staff.
- few steps away from the beach.
- big and spacious rooms with a separate sitout/living.
- free breakfast, parking and wifi
Bad:
- the floors below 3rd floor dont really have any ocean views. U need to take higher floors for a good view of the beach and the ocean. Else u get partial view of the ocean and see a lot of sand mounds view blocking the beach.
