Closed bar and restaurant
Bar and restaurant is shut, nothing on my booking to say this, looks like they open it when they feel like it, as it was set for a wedding for next day. when i asked staff all i got was "it says on their website it is shut, and this has happened before hotels.com hasnt updated their information". Nice pub down the road where we spent all evening instead
The room was a chilly 13 degrees C, we had to request towels, there are no water glasses in the room. The cleanliness is abysmal, there was long dark hair all over the bathroom floor and shower and I am platinum blonde. The teaspoon in the tea set was unwashed, and there was only decaf.
We were charged a late check in fee of £15 for checking in after 7pm even though the site says check in til 11pm. No plug sockets anywhere near the beds. The actual look and feel of the rooms don’t reflect the general photos.
Room was bog standard with paint on bathroom floor and rusting in the hand soap holder. we found a long hair in the bed too. But staff were lovely, room was clean and bed was comfy. Peaceful and quiet night had. Breakfast was nice too so not a bad experience overall.

Disliked: Amenities
Staff were all really good and helpful but the service was slow in the restaurant. Breakfast needs a lot to be desired. Carvery was over cooked. Nice location and peaceful. Needs some TLC.
The hotel was very good, clean. The evening meal in their restaurant was excellent. The service was very good, felt well looked after. The breakfast was also excellent, food was very good. We will be back to stay again
Had a ground floor room. Woken at 07.45 by noisy staff arriving for work. No door closer on front door so that banged every time so.eone entered. Staff cheerfully going about their work with radio playing. No consideration for the fact some of their guests would prefer not to be woken at this time!. Beds comfortable but one had no mattress cover. To access hot water instruction said turn tap clockwise to 9 o'clock position. Problem is while doing this you get splashed in ice cold water. Breakfast excellent. Nice choice service and quality.
It was a lovely hotel and very comfortable the food was excellent. The only quibble I have is that the bedrooms are in a separate building from the restaurant and reception area. So if you want to eat and it's pouring with rain expect to get wet. Other than that perfect.
Everything was excellent. Service, staff, bar all good. Bed and pillows however were way too hard. Not a great nights sleep. Couldn’t fault anything else though.
Great experience from start to finish. Check in was smooth and simple. restaurant food was simply divine and reasonably priced. menu choices were amazing. staff are very pleasant and friendly especially Katie who was very helpful and friendly during dinner.
Room was very pleasant, modern & clean. Staff friendly, if a bit thin on the ground at times. Bar/restaurant very pleasant. Menu disappointing with limited choice and too few hot dishes, and a bit pricey, as were the drinks.
A seriously disappointing stay at this Hotel.
I had booked an Executive Double Room as advertised which included a Four Poster Bed and a large room with a Sofa. When I arrived I was only offered a standard twin room. This later got changed to a Superior Double Room with a free Breakfast but the reason I had chosen this Hotel, was the Room and no amount of free food makes up for it.
We stayed Saturday and Sunday, and getting back to our room on Sunday evening, we food that the room had no been serviced. Whilst the towels had been changed, the bed had not been made, the crockery had not been changed and there had been no cleaning at all.
The Reception Staff were always full of polite apologies and the food was good value but I will not be back.
For the amount I paid 135 pounds, it was disappointing. My friends paid 75 pounds. The breakfast wasn’t edible, there were leaks in the roof, the room was okay but basic, so for 135 pounds it was terrible in comparison to other rooms for that cost, I couldn’t get early check in which again for the price was crazy.
I really didn't have a good stay here. I stayed for one night and it was not a good stay. To start with the room was damp. It had that "old, unlived in" smell. The room was also visited by beetles in the morning, in particular the onsuite. A sure sign of the damp being deep seated within the fabric of the premises. The service for the evening meal was pretty dire too. Ignoring the fact that the menu came from 1982, the meal was late due to the waitress forgetting to tell the kitchen and when it finally came it was not as advertised. The "chefs" had managed to forget all of the ingredients.
When I pointed everything out to the reception in the morning they acknowledged that they are looking to refit the bedrooms in the near future. That, after trying to charge me for a breakfast I was not going to have.
Total shambles. I will not be staying here again & I will be advising my colleagues to avoid the place too.
On arrival was told they had no booking for me.
Receptionist traced your reservation and realised no room had been allocated.
Fortunately there was one room remaining.

An extremely comfortable stay at The Gramary.
I was extremely happy with my stay at The Granary. Staff were very friendly & helpful, the room was excellent, spotlessly clean, well-provided with facilities e.g. for tea/coffee-making & with a very pleasant view. Breakfast was very good. No problems whatsoever with parking.
