About this property
Todd Fell Barn - a cottage in Longsleddale near Kendal
Discover the magical peace and serenity of the Longsleddale valley at Todd Fell Barn. You might find Longsleddale oddly familiar, even if you have never visited before, because the author of the Postman Pat books based the stories on life in the Longsleddale valley. Here, with Todd Fell Barn, you have a classic Lake District barn conversion which has been designed and fitted out with comfort and style in mind, not to mention the far-reaching views along the valley to the high fells that await you (check out the view from the kitchen!). Fell walkers have great choices of lesser walked areas, to include the route over to Haweswater, and a 'two valley' day walk taking in Kentmere and Staveley. For lower-level walking, there's lots of choices nearby, including sections along the clear-running River Sprint.
Step into this upside-down plan property and feel at ease straight away as you take your pick of the two ground floor en suite bedrooms, both of which have Kingsize beds - the smaller bedroom can be set up as two single beds (2'6" wide beds), and enjoys wonderful views across the valley. The larger of the bedrooms has patio doors with a great view and an en suite which has a shower, WC, and basin. The second Kingsize bedroom is cosy and the en-suite has a modern shower, WC, and basin. Upstairs to the impressive open plan kitchen / dining area. The spacious country-style kitchen has excellent fittings, solid oak and granite worktops and top-brand appliances. Also on this level is the most lovely lounge, complete with logburner and an impressive array of books on all subjects imaginable. Again, the windows look out over the valley - what could be better than relaxing in front of the logburner, with a book or your favourite TV programme?
Outside, on the sheltered side of the property, is a patio area with table and chairs and a small sloping grassed area. Enjoy the silence, only interrupted by birdsong or the bleat of lambs.
For all the peaceful rural feel of the area, Longsleddale is actually only a short drive into Kendal with a great range of shops, pubs, restaurants, cafes and entertainment. The famous Brewery Art Centre has cinema screens, live performances of music and theatre productions. A little further will take you to Windermere with the lake and high fells awaiting you. For a holiday in an idyllic, quiet corner of the Lakes, look no further than Todd Fell Barn. Better still, if you have a larger group, the next-door property, Todd Fell Cottage (sleeps 2), can also be booked.
