"If indeed it is Mayor Matijošaitis or his family who own the property, I would suggest, as they pour millions into new construction, that they invest in upgrading this historic property, which, except for its charming period lobby, seems stuck in the Soviet era. Door trim in bath is showing rot, hair dryer is dinged and cracked (though working), few electric wall outlets, and, apparently, an outdated sewer system that requires used toilet paper to be put in a bin. The staff were courteous but clueless about the rich history of the hotel. Breakfast buffet was very good. Perhaps a lift to the second floor could be incorporated into the strongly encouraged renovation. A little cringeworthy was the hotel registration form that had to be completed manually and had instructions in Lithuanian, English, and Russian. One almost expected, as in former times, to find a babushka sitting at her post in the hotel corridor taking note of who came and went."
"Great location and quiet. Rooms were spotless. Parking was a big issue and communication on checking in was difficult. We prepaid for parking and we were given a bad copy of a map to the parking lot. It took us considerable time to find the lot which seemed like a mile or so away. Trying to enter the lot the code we were given could not be used. Back to the hotel, and the hotel took care of the car. Kunas, is a developing town. In a few years it maybe worthwhile but for now, things were rather sparse."
"Friendly helpful staff on reception, forgot our adapter & they lent us one. There are no USB sockets in the room. Hotel is in a great location on the main pedestrian street. Room & bathroom was clean & spacious. Did get a bit stuffy & hot even after opening the window. Was a little noisy ant night, our room was on the 4th floor at the front of the hotel. Large variety & choice for breakfast."
"Didn’t like the welcome at all. Tough carrying 3 heavy bags up 3 floors.
Large bedroom but sparsely furnished made it feel a bit sterile & without any theme or character.
No shelf in the bathroom for toiletries by the sink"
"Breakfast quality good, but menu was exactly the same every day. Someone like us stayed for a week, it gets boring. I wish they had some variation every day, and offer a few different items. "
