Great property! The views and lake was amazing, the property was very clean and in great condition, overall great stay! Dee was awesome to work with and very quick to respond. Great place to stay!
Our group consisted of 2 adults and 2 teens. Checkin/checkout was easy. Great views of the lake from almost every room in the house. New dock that we spent many hours on. Fire pit, deck and large grass space were appreciated by teens, as well as canoe, boats. The best was the peaceful lake and amazing sunsets! A great place for a relaxing weekend away!

Had a long weekend with two adult children and a dog. Property was as great, enough room for all of us. Place was very clean and well stocked. If we had needed anything - it was probably there. Property was large and private with hedges along both sides. Lots of comfortable chairs outside with a fire pit for s'mores. Dee (host) was great - met us at the cottage showed me around and was incredibly thorough with everything we needed to know. Kitchen was well stocked with all yhe equipment we needed. We enjoyed use of kayaks and a great dock for fishing (very small fish).
Beautiful property just 2 hours from Toronto. The property is stunning with a large lawn, beautiful stone firepit and a great bench on the dock. The place has A/C and pretty good wifi and a very warm cedar interior. The bbq was very handy and the kitchen was pretty much a full kicthen.
Bring your own firewood as they charge quite a bit and the owner arrived 30 minutes before our scheduled leave time.
All in all a great spot to stay.
The property is spacious and includes a couple of kayaks and a canoe. The water is unfortunately too shallow and weedy for swimming off the dock, but it great for paddling. It is nestled between a lot of cottages, so it is not secluded, but with large hedges it feels very private. The grounds are lovely for the evenings with the firepit.
My parents came from Vancouver and we brought them up to this cottage for their first Ontario summer cottage experience. We all loved it. The property is epic - we spent a lot of time outside. Beautiful fire pit and dock and very private. Unfortunately, the lake is full of weeds (even though you can tell the owners tried to clear some of the weeds directly out front of their property) it was still unpleasant and we didn’t spend as much time in the lake as we thought we would.
We had a lovely time and the cottage was perfect. Stunning sunsets. The weather was not great so we were not able to get on the lake but we had fun anyways. Dee was a joy to work with. Would definitely recommend.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have been repeatedly asked by friends where we were based on our pictures and conversations from our getaway. Everything we needed to maximize our experience was provided for us and Dee went out of her way to accomodate us. We look forward to returning.
Very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. We feel very safe there. We are city folks and not use to so much flies and mosquitoes. Bring more spay, essential oil and candles to deter them if you want to enjoy the outdoor. They come out immediately after the sun is down. Stores are a little out of the way, pack enough groceries.
The property itself is excellent. The cottage is in a great location, the dock is new and the water is fun to go in. There were lots of things to do in the cottage and around the area. However - buyer beware of the fees you may get charged at any moment at this place. Be prepared to have your contract on hand as the owner will make up random fees and try to get you to pay them directly to her and bypass the app. She tried to tell us the pet fee was $350 when it was $280 and then also tried to make us pay $75 for firewood when it was $50. Also even though the ad says maximum 10 people and there are 3 double beds, if you have more than 4 people, you have to pay an extra $350 per person.
A cute cottage situated on a quiet and serene lake. We woke up early to the view of a sixteen magnificent large birds perched in the trees and on the boulders near the waters edge. Throughout the day we were amused with the kayak, the canoe and the inflatable lounge chairs. Our dog loved swimming in the lake and roaming the property area. All in all, fun had by all!
Our family had a great time here. Big roomy cottage and the huge property on the lake was perfect for corn hole and ring-toss games.
Sunsets and s'mores by the campfire at night and then dockside coffee and kayaking (watercraft provided) in the calm water mornings. Ducks, swans and herons were daily lakeside visitors. And the AC proved a lifesaver for indoor breaks throughout the particularly humid week our of our stay.
Great place to escape - yet with all the amenities of home.
The pictures on the site do not reflect even half of how picturesque the actual location and property is.
Beautiful, private cottage, large backyard, great for soaking in the sunsets or enjoying the water toys (along with a sufficiently large selection of life jackets) at the property. The dock is in good condition, the fire pit is gorgeous, and the communication with the host was smooth and easy.
If more than 4 adults, then additional people are chargeable at this property. Perhaps clarify the extra cost with the owner beforehand, as the VRBO site or the property description does not quite indicate that at the time of booking.
Easy booking, great communication with host. Close to neighbours and still felt safe and private. Very cozy, nice to have the water toys and the fishing off the dock.
Fire pit was amazing with great looking well stocked wood pile !! Great sunsets.
Beautiful property, we had such a great time by the campfire. Dee was great during the entire process, she made sure we felt at home and had all the amenities we would ever need. The only thing worth noting was that the lake itself isn’t ideal for small kids who want to swim from the shore; there was a lot of seaweed and the water itself is quite murky; which is a characteristic of any cottage on lake Scugog. Having said all that, there was a large selection of boats and life jackets available by the owner that we used and had a great time!
-Ad said 8 guests: we had 6 but paid for the 6th "extra guest" (doesn't make sense at all)
-Ad said 3 queen beds: NOT queen beds.
-Ad all about the campfire and the beautiful setup but only used one night because nosy neighbours yelled and said they were going to call the cops
-Ad said 2baths: but it's 1.5 (only shower is in the basement)
-Bathrooms weren't clean (toilets, countertops)
-BBQ was filthy.
-Cute cottage inside but the outside is not well maintained and definitely some parts were not kid friendly. Found two dead rats on the grass, A LOT of poop on the grass (some of it was even larger than human poop), hundreds of nails and screws everywhere!!!! Cutting SAW left in grass. Took lots of photos (if you need to contact me to see this: ceko.aleksandra@gmail.com ...I'll be more than happy to share them)
-There's a HUGE dog that comes around without a leash, without an owner. Tried scaring it away but kept coming back. Scared the kids and my little dog. Felt really uncomfortable. Called my parents to travel one hour to pick up the dog but the second day they sent a payment for me to pay $300 dog fee even though she didn't even spend one night (not sure why).
-Personal items left in fridge (not really something you expect during Covid19)
-Water is dirty, swampy feel.
-Accused of stealing water shoes when we had our own? Even told the owner that we won't be using them.
The family had a great time away from the city and enjoyed the access to the lake and water. The owner was a great host and was very accommodating. I would happily recommend the property to anyone looking for a quiet get away, with access to a lake and the opportunity for the kids to canoe and paddle away.
We had a great time.
Upon our arrival Dee met my husband and me and gave us a tour of her beautiful property. The home is exactly as advertised and the view is amazing! We wanted to be away and the silence was exactly what we were looking for. We ride motorcycles and found the location to be perfect - not far from areas such as Minden, Huntsville, Bobcaygeon etc. Lindsay is 20min away for your grocery needs. Make sure to visit “The Spudster” in Little Britain for the best burgers and fries. Dee is very responsive and prompt if you have any queries or concerns. Thanks to Dee and family for being so hospitable.
