The cottage itself was spacious, very clean, and well equipped. The grounds were beautiful, with a gazebo, firepit, BBQ and outdoor dining area, and the home had plenty of games and two large TVs. Everything about the house and property was accurately represented, and we were initially very pleased.Unfortunately, the lake was a major disappointment. Swimming and kayaking were important reasons we chose a waterfront cottage. Before booking, I specifically asked the host whether the lake was suitable for swimming and was told that it was, with water shoes recommended. Based on that response, we proceeded with a three-night booking costing just over 2,200.When we arrived, the water surrounding the dock was extremely dense with underwater vegetation—more like an underwater forest—and none of our group felt it was suitable or safe for swimming, particularly for children or elderly guests. We were able to kayak, but did not swim at all.The host explained that recent heat had caused heavier vegetation growth and arranged for someone to clear some weeds along the shoreline. We appreciated the effort, although it made little practical difference. This could be a good choice for guests seeking a spacious cottage, attractive grounds, kayaking, canoeing and a peaceful waterfront setting. However, anyone booking primarily for swimming should be aware that the lake conditions may not meet their expectations.
