There are lots of hotels to stay at in Kathmandu, but there is only one Shankar. Shankar has unmatched hospitality, with my personal favorite hosts Mr. Puri & Mr. Sharan who are both super stars. I always looked foward to chatting with them at meal times. Shankar has a mid-century modern motif, and it keeps the heritage of Nepal and Newari culture alive. Shankar also has an amazing garden to relax in and connect with nature after a long day in the city.

The hotel is clean. It looks royal and it has a good restaurant. The breakfast spread is really wonderful. It has a collection of Indian continental sushi, Italian, and other cuisines. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Kathmandu Nepal. The staff is very friendly and they go out of their way to help anyone that is there as a guest.

Hotel was a beautiful heritage building. Because of this expect small bathrooms but they were perfectly adequate and spotless. Majority of staff with amazing and so friendly and went out of their way to assist. Only staff I found rude and dismissive were the front reception staff who give you the feeling that you weren’t good enough to stay there. Security staff dining and pool staff were all brilliant

This is a beautiful hotel with a lot of history. Beautiful architecture and garden. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I’ve stayed here many times. It is my favorite hotel in Kathmandu! I highly recommend staying at Hotel Shankar, especially if it’s your first visit to Nepal. My stays at the hotel are always memorable!

Amazing Nepalese hospitality

The hotel is an old heritage building so the bathrooms are small but perfectly functional and clean. Our view from both rooms was terrible but that happens and we didn't spend much time in the room so it wasn't the end of the world. Staff made the stay from the cleaning and dining staff to the security they were all amazing. Only issue I had was with the front desk staff, they were aloof and rude. You were made to feel that you weren't good enough to stay there, which was certainly not the behaviour of the rest of the staff. It's a shame that the front-line staff leave a bad taste.

The property was beautiful, the staff was amazing! There was a beautiful bar and a happy hour! The bathroom was a bit small and the room seemed a little dated, but it’s an older palace and the history is so cool. We would return again! The area around the hotel is okay, it’s just very hard to cross a street as the traffic is insane-but that’s all of Kathmandu.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. I had 3 stays here during my time in Nepal and enjoyed them all. My room on the final night was one of the renovated ones and was lovely. Amazing bed. Staff are great and the breakfast really good.
