Beautiful home, extremely comfortable beds, luxurious bedding and towls. Great location, lovely welcome gifts and hosts were fantastic. Loved our stay and will return.
Location perfect to explore the surrounding area. Coming back to the winter sun filled dining room to sit around table, look at the view, talk, read and relax was my favourite place. The whole house was very comfortable, warm and welcoming.
Clean and ideally located albeit being a residential property in the main street surrounded by businesses means that not all civic functions realise you are trying to sleep between 12 and 2am. But that was a minor issue across 4 nights.
Such a beautifully presented home.
Everything has been thought of to make your stay hassle free and so comfortable.
While our kids also loved the house and seeing the display of history in every cupboard i would love to come back to be able to just sit and enjoy the house and area child free.
Such a comfortable home away from home, with all the thoughtful touches that make such a difference. Thank you Mark and Jenny, it’s always a pleasure to stay here.
We were very pleased with our rental choice, The undercover off street parking was a bonus as we could leave things in the car during our stay. We really enjoyed the rich colonial history of Kapunda!
Spent a wonderful weekend in a unique property, the spacious School of Mines. So many lovely touches including very high level of cleanliness and style. Rhodri
From the entrance up the stairs to having the entire top floor to ourselves - this place really delivers in all the right ways. The overall decor is in keeping with the style and age of the building except for the massive reclining lounge suite and 3, yes 3 smart tv’s throughout the lounge, dining and main bedroom.
No detail has been spared regarding comfort, the beds were amazing, the sheets divine and don’t get me started on the softness of the towels.
Located in the Main Street it is easily accessible and central to the town of Kapunda and the entire Barossa region, making it a truly perfect destination to have as your base to take in everything on offer.
We had a fantastic week, visiting the Murray River mouth (a highlight and worth the drive), Adelaide beaches, and the Barossa and Clare Valleys. Being from Brisbane, we also enjoyed the long twilights with self-guided walks and displays in Kapunda. The accommodation was like Grandma's house with quality mod-cons and plenty of room for us all. High speed internet was vital for our uni student son and the totally reclining lounges meant we could easily fit in a second adult child. The huge dining room windows were amazing, giving lovely views to the hills and making the dining room a huge indoor verandah.
If you love old and interesting things this is the place for you. You are staying basically in a museum and able to explore all the interesting items as you go.
Very clean accommodation with everything that you need. We were fine with the stairs but for anyone that struggles with them, they are steep.
My wife and I traveled from Sydney and stayed at the School of Mines at Kapunda which is now set up as a fully furnished home.
We found the home very comfortable and provided everything we needed for our stay. It is very well equipped. We used it as our base to travel around the Barossa and parts of Adelaide. We highly recommend this property.
We loved this place. There are some seriously unusual touches to the place. The view from the dining room is sensational. It’s warm and comfortable in an interesting town. Highly recommend
Was lovely stepping back in time, loads of history but still with all the needed mod cons. The attention to every detail was amazing down to soft towels, extra blankets, books, huge TV, bath and so much more room to move than we expected. It had a lovely view and lots of light. The location was in the middle of town so all the cafes, pubs etc were outside the main entrance. There was entertainment in the pub next door until late if that's your scene. Navigating the stairs was fine for us but may be difficult for some. we had a wonderful time and only wished we could stay longer.
Easy to find, communication to gain entry easy, perfect central location.
Quaint accommodation decorated to suit yesteryear, but with all the comforts of home. Staircase is quite steep, so wouldn't recommend for anyone who has mobility issues, but we all found it a good challenge each day 😉.
No ghosts (unfortunately), but lots of friendly locals who were more than happy to tell some ghostly tales.
Great accommodation for our group of two couples.
The accommodation is beautifully maintained with cosy bedrooms and a marvellously large TV and comfortable seats. We saw the (interesting) sights of Kapunda in a day but it's a good base for the Barossa and Clare valleys.
