This area offers direct access to the beautiful South China Sea, with hotels and resorts typically situated just a short walk from the sand. You'll find a relaxed atmosphere here, with many properties offering views of the ocean and easy access to water activities. The main road running parallel to the coast connects most of the accommodations.

Couples looking for a peaceful getaway will appreciate the secluded feel of many of these coastal resorts. They often feature private villas, spa facilities, and fine dining options, great for a romantic escape. The sound of the waves and the opportunity for beach strolls create a very relaxing environment.

Families will also find excellent options along this stretch of coast. Many resorts cater to families with spacious rooms, swimming pools, and organised activities for children.

Terengganu's tropical monsoon climate means the best time to visit Kampung Pengkalan Maras is during the dry season, which typically runs from March to October.

During these months, you'll experience sunny days and calm seas, ideal for enjoying the area's natural beauty and outdoor activities. The weather is consistently warm, with average temperatures around 28-32°C, and humidity is lower compared to the monsoon season. This period is great for those looking to relax on the beach or explore the local culture without interruption from heavy rainfall.

The monsoon season, from November to February, brings heavy rain and strong winds, especially between December and January. Many local businesses, including tour operators and some restaurants, may close during this time due to the weather conditions and rough seas. It's best to avoid these months if you're planning a trip focused on water activities or want to ensure all facilities are open.

For travellers looking for the absolute best conditions for snorkelling, diving, or island hopping to nearby Perhentian or Redang islands, aim for April to August.
