The best area to stay in Kalanos is typically within the main village itself, or in the immediate surrounding countryside for those seeking a more secluded experience.

The main village of Kalanos offers a very authentic Greek mountain village experience. It's quite compact, with a central square where you'll find the local tavernas and a church. The streets are narrow and winding, great for a leisurely stroll. You'll often see locals going about their daily lives, giving it a very genuine feel.

For couples looking for a peaceful escape, staying in the village allows for easy access to local cuisine and the chance to unwind in a tranquil setting. The surrounding hills offer pleasant walking paths, and you're never far from a stunning view of the Loussios Gorge.

Travellers seeking solitude and direct access to nature might prefer one of the boutique accommodations just outside the main village. These often feature impressive views and are great for those who enjoy hiking and exploring the natural beauty of the region.

The best time to go to Kalanos is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, September, and early October. These months offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and often better value for accommodations and flights.

During May and early June, the weather is warm and sunny, great for exploring the natural beauty of the region without the intense heat of mid-summer. The wildflowers are in full bloom, making it an ideal time for hiking and enjoying the scenic landscapes. This period is particularly good for couples looking for a romantic escape with comfortable temperatures for outdoor activities.

September and early October also provide excellent conditions. The summer heat has subsided, but the sea remains warm enough for swimming, and the vineyards are often busy with the grape harvest, offering unique local experiences.
