It’s really hard to have a bad time at The Whaler. This unit faces black rock, has an extended lanai, and is slightly above the building next door. Is the unit dated? Yes. Is it clean? YES! Is it functional and comfortable? YES! The sectional couch is comfy and the king bed is VERY comfy. Kitchen has been updated at some point though it could use new cooking pans. We were still able to cook everything we wanted to. The only problem we encountered was check in as the front desk didn’t have our reservation on file. Luckily the property management company was one the front desk was familiar with and was able to contact and confirm our reservation after a very stressful 30 minutes. Other than that everything was great and we would definitely stay in this unit again!

Motel 6 with a view
The property has spectacular views, but is in serious need of updating. The kitchen was missing some basic necessities which typically come standard in these types of rentals, the knives were dull and the sets were incomplete. We did encounter some bugs in the kitchen area during the night, but nothing visible during the day. The master shower/tub did not drain well and we would often shower in a couple inches of standing water. The master shower also had some difficulty warming up and at times could take several minutes. The rest of the condo was well furnished and comfortable for our family of four. The property management company was extremely attentive and great to work with. Overall, we had good experience but for a unit that costs nearly $900/night after taxes and fees, we feel that it fell short.
It would have been a very nice, relaxing stay if the unit had not been infested with cockroaches. It was very stressful and upsetting especially for the cost. This was our 12th or 13th stay at the Whaler and the ONLY time we have ever experienced cockroaches.
There were two umbrellas and the one we chose to
being with us to the beach was broken into pieces when we took it out of the bag so we were without shade all day. The other one was fine so the rest of our beach days were fine. We left a note on it for the cleaning crew to throw it away. Everything else was perfect! It was our second time in 712 and hopefully not our last!

The unit was not very clean, but it was functional. None of the clocks worked, the dishwasher was dead ( not replaced over the week), the microwave lights were out, but they came to fix that. The decor and the furniture were all older and outdated. We felt the pictures on the listing were misleading and made it look nicer than it was.
