I don’t think the place is worth what they charge.
The reception was not welcoming. Rooms not really serviced well. No soaps/creams. The halls where dirty and gardens not maintained. Just over all disappointing.
They need friendly inviting staff that make you feel welcome too.
This was one of the most beautiful buildings i have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Its outside, inside flow is seamless and the details are flawless. The interior is in true keeping of the buildings age and design and i would like to congratulate whomever the person is that decorated or designed the interior space. The team at the Hotel from housekeeping to Management were always concerned about my comfort and the reception was always à

Very pleasant. Breakfast (main course only) included which was convenient. The basin had no plug, but the bath plug was interchangeable. Very large bed, but duvet just covered the mattress. Air-conditioner not connected to the electricity, but it was winter and we survived. Although there was wi-fi I could not manage to connect.
The hotel staff are friendly and accommodating, even assisting me with an early check in as I was attending a wedding nearby. The rooms are large, however they seem very run down and in need of some tic. Also they seem to ha e cut some corners when it comes to the finishing touches.
Large King size bed, with two standard size pillows, just isn't acceptable. The linen also had stains. Two towels only one was torn No hand towel. No bathrobes or slippers which are mentioned in the listing.
The staff helped with extra pillows and towels but only after the second time I had to walk to reception to request this as the phone in the room wasn't working.

Not a five star hotel - slow and noisy
I stayed for four nights. I found the service to be slow and this cannot be a five star establishment. A few examples include: When I called to ask for an ironing board and iron to press my clothes, reception said that they would bring it however it never arrived; breakfast takes very long even though on two of the mornings we were the only guests in the restaurant. On our last night there, we had a scare when two drunken guests tried to open our door at 3am; people were making a lot of noise for about three hours shouting, talking and banging doors (I called reception at 3am to ask them to check it out because I thought someone was trying to burgle the place). They even tried to open my mum's room door (she was in the room next to mine). On this same night, I was also itching all over (I think it was the blanket but I cannot be certain) and I broke out in a terrible rash that lasted all night and all day. For some reason, it is impossible to have two hand towels in the room at any given point. When we requested for two hand towels, they brought two bath towels instead. The positives include good wifi, staff are friendly and access in and out of the compound where the hotel is situated is good. Overall, I would not rate this place very highly. I've stayed in numerous five star hotels and this is by far the least appealing in terms of returning or recommending it to friends.
This was our last stop of our honeymoon and we booked a special room for this reason! BUT, absolutely NOTHING we booked, we got. Firstly, we booked the suite (which I assumed was the Honeymoon suite, as this is the only suite their website advertises) that said it had a jetted bathtub and under special comments I re-iterated that I booked this! When we got to the hotel at 14:45, the room was not ready and was then informed that the room that we booked, is NOT the room that we were getting! Upon requesting the manager, it was just said SORRY, there was a problem with our booking!! Furthermore, they didn't even try and accommodate us for their stuff up, not even a letter of apology in the room! Amenities was not there, the booking said there's slippers, etc... Nothing!! The safe did not work, half the lights in the room was dead! We we're two people, we got 1 bath towel, 1 face towel... The remote for the TV did not work and when we requested someone to bring batteries, after twenty minutes of waiting, we left with someone still not arriving at the room!! We might have had all the bad luck in the world at the Lombardy Hotel, but coming from the Hospitality Industry myself, all of this could not have been just 1 room!! Will definitely NOT recommend this hotel to anyone, ever, even if it has the best location in the world!! Would rather stay in an Formula 1 hotel than here, because at least they would attempt to fix issues!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!
We had a great time here! Beautiful room, friendly staff and delicious breakfast... only negative was that our food and drinks took a long time to get prepared... but once they arrived they tasted great. I really liked the large bed and colorful decor
From the moment I stepped into this hotel I could sense something was amiss. Clearly this hotel is trying to operate without properly trained staff.
The facilities are dated and need a good refurbishment.
No service in the restaurant on Sunday evening (18h30) so we went out for dinner.
We booked a spa for Monday 10 October for our anniversary. Sadly the Spa didn't get our booking........they tried to accomodate us for a 1 hour spa session but we declined as we wanted a half day experience.
i sense that Lombardy was once a 5 star boutique hotel but not anymore, maybe a 3 star and a poor 3 star at that.
I felt like I was living in a hostel.

WHILST THE ROOMS ARE COMFORTABLE THE PLACE IS TIRED, THE WALL PAPER IS SHOWING AGE AND THE SINK PLUG LEVER DID NOT WORK. THE TELEVISION NEEDS REPLACING, THERE ARE THREE VERTICAL LINES GOING DOWN THE SCREEN, ON ALL CHANNELS
Four nights stay was one long disappointment; tatty and unkept; management absent and friendly front of house staff did their best to help; door of bathroom cabinet was broken and on the floor when we first entered our room and stayed there the four days; curtains dirty and tatty and fell of the rails; would not walk on the carpet or sit on the furniture due to dirt and awful smell; there were the usual beverages and toiletries. Nothing special. No welcoming letter; no enquiering about our stay; meeting snacks I ordered were so mediocre. I do not know where to stop. Other guests I overheard hAd similar complaints. The five stars are a fraudulent misleading sell aspect. I am most angry about that misrepresentation. Food is good if compared to a mediocre restaurants; it is totally terrible and uninspiring for a five star establishment. I was offered other rooms but they were all in a similar state. Ghastly. I was not at the spa so cannot comment on that. Place needs to close down and be refurbished in totality. Please do not represent this place as a five star boutique hotel because you are misleading us as clients.
our other accommodation double booked our rooms so we got a place to stay here. It's a very well kept romantic hotel with a gorgeous dining room and a nice and warm library with an open fireplace. Rooms are really nice especially room 20 with the nice bathtub and office space. The outside is nice to sit for a sundowner and enjoy the evening. what a nice gem with great staff!
I needed time alone to think and found this hotel through internet and it turned out to be just the place I was looking for, very quiet. I'm definitely trying it again for romantic night this time
