The hotel staff were friendly, very helpful, and always available. The location was excellent. We could see the old town from our room, and we were a few doors down from the police station. The breakfast was decent. The only complaint is that the wifi was weak and unreliable, and the shower was extremely moldy.

Motel close to sites
The hotel room is pretty basic, but the staff is very friendly. The location is convenient to the old city but is very much East Jerusalem.
Great location, a few hundred meters from the old town. Budget price, which means you can't expect a five star room. This is what I found uncomfortable:
- Cold water flow was extremely weak, hence only hot water in the tap.
- TV has about 40 channels, ALL of them in Arabic. Hence, the hotel is only suitable for either Arabic speakers or TV enemies.
- No chairs in the room. So you put your laptop on the table, switch it on, and operate it while standing by the table. Or you put everything on the bed.
- Windows and doors are not sound proof. The window of my room looked into the street, and all the noise from the busy street came through. As well as through the door from the hotel's corridor.
I have just got back staying in this hotel for 8 nights. The location was great , easy to walk to the old city. Plenty of shops around. Our room on the 5th floor was nice with a balcony . Staff were great and breakfast was good.we would go again.
Comfortable rooms a few steps from Herod's gate. Great breakfast and coffee machine. Staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Stay here for sure!
very kind staf, helpfull with providing information and tips.

It did the trick to visit Jerusalem
The location of the hotel is excellent, it's pretty much in front of Herod'gate and about 5 minutes from Damascus gate. You can start the Via Dolorosa from both gates. The staff has excellent customer service specially Kifah which went above and beyond all the time! The location is safe, there is a police station on the corner. I will definitely recommend this hotel if you are on a tight budget but yet you want a clean place to stay with great breakfast.

East Jerusalem, near Herod Gate
This is a small hotel in East Jerusalem, not to be confused with the similarly named Metropole Hotel, which is only a few doors away. I was a little apprehensive when I booked it, even though I had gotten an excellent Expedia "Unreal Deal" rate. However, it served me just fine for my time in Jerusalem. Nothing fancy, but more than reasonably functional.
The location is in a shopping district near the Old City, quite safe because there is a police station virtually next door. There are several small hotels in the area, lots of shopping. There were a few nearby restaurants, most of which had local styles of food. It's on a one-way street, and taxis had a habit of stopping at the other end of the one-way portion, which meant a short walk rather than being delivered at the door. Because this hotel is in a mainly Palestinian area, most of the signs in the area are in Arabic and English, rather than Hebrew. TV appeared to be a Saudi cable or satellite feed, but there were three stations that broadcast in English, including CNN.
Breakfast was decent. They told me that it was from 7 to 9, although one morning I had to be up before 6 and it was already there and waiting.
