Stunning cliff top location, unbelievable rooms and staff that went above and beyond. Right from being picked up from the station in a beautifully restored car, through to the well appointed rooms (and well stocked free mini bar and room service) and the incredible breakfast and dinner degustations, we had an incredible stay. Mark and the entire team were so lovely to welcome us and make it an unforgettable stay!

The owner is amazing, and we rented the nightwear which was very comfortable! The walls are thin, but we did not have any issues with noisy neighbours. Highly recommend!

As the "hanare" part of "hanareya" suggests, this location is quite far from what you might consider urban Japan, and as such is a good place for some relaxing quiet time. The ryokan room I had was very spacious despite being the smallest type, especially for one person. There was the genkan (entrance area), a big room for eating, a big room for sleeping, a corridor with chairs/tables and a safety deposit box, a closet with a yukata, a toilet, a separate bathroom sink area, one small indoor...

This hotel had the most incredible view from our hotel room and the restaurant. I had the most restful sleep on the comfortable Japanese style futons and the staff were very attentive and kind, even giving the children gifts. We loved the onsen and massage services on site. I only wished the indoor pool was open for the children. Maybe it is drained this time of year, but it was a shame not to be able to use it. The outdoor pools were drained too.
