"Our family rented two of the castaway cabins for a weeklong vacation on hartwell lake. Although one of the cabins had an issue prior to our arrival, Deanna was proactive to reach out and let us know and moved us to another cabin just a short walk from the other cabin. We enjoyed cooking outside with the well-equipped outdoor kitchen. It has everything you need. We spent our evenings around the fire pit while the grandkids made s’mores. "This was one of the best places we’ve stayed at. It have all the essentials plus some. Everything you need in the kitchen. Plenty of towels and wash cloths. Extra toilet papers. Usually you have to bring more of these things but at this house there’s no need. They take care of you."

"We had a wonderful visit over Memorial Day weekend. The house was very comfortable, especially the bedding which is not always the case when renting. The owner was very accommodating and allowed us to check in early. The only negative was that the hill leading to the dock was very steep. Because I have knee issues I was not able to go down there but all the others in our group were able to."

"An amazing stay was had by all at this beautiful Lakeside cabin. Private yet accessible only minutes to the lake by foot. Enough room for everybody and a great deck overlooking the water. Highly recommended for family, friends and loved ones. Can’t say enough about the house Brenda, she answered all our questions in a timely fashion."

"Quaint log cabin, spacious rooms. The cabin itself needed to be cleaned better. Upon our arrival the master bathroom had not been cleaned and there was left over trash in several areas from previous guest. We were creditied 50 dollars for this. If you are cooking be advised to bring items to cook with. The property is not on the lake and the owner's ATV must be rented to drive through the hilly, muddy, narrow wooded path to get to the dock. That in itself was an adventure. The dock was perfect...

"My mom and I needed a getaway from everything because I am going through stage 3 breast cancer and we just lost my 40 year old baby brother due to a car accident. This was just what we needed! We used the canoe to fish, sat by the water, and hung out by the fire! Couple suggestions for future stayers: We bought a fold up wagon with big wheels so we could put our fishing supplies, cooler, and chairs for sitting by the water which made walking to the water easier. "Pap’s place was the perfect spot for our family’s weekend lake trip. We had 3 adults, 2 children, and 2 small dogs and there was plenty of space for our family. The property was amazing. We loved having a dock available to dock our boat. The nature trail was beautiful. The house was clean and everything was accurate to the listing. Steve was attentive and communicative. We would definitely stay at Pap’s place again in the future."

"Very nice place to stay. The house was clean, had nice amenities (good Wi-Fi, AC, full kitchen), and was in a great location. I do have to agree with another review that the downstairs futon was unusable as a bed. As far as comfort, we had four adults and that seemed the right size for the house. In my opinion, any more people would have made the house feel too crowded."
