About this property
Beautiful 10 person modern bungalow in Bruichladdich with stunning views
This beautiful bungalow in Bruichladdich is situated directly beside Loch Indaal with stunning views to Bowmore and its famous distillery, The Oa and the Paps of Jura.
The bungalow, called Failte, Gaelic for Welcome, has recently been extensively refurbished and modernised to create a stunning 5 bedroom property. As the house is a bungalow all rooms are easily accessible. The house has been upgraded to a high standard to create a bright and welcoming place to stay.
There are 5 bedrooms - 3 bedrooms have superking-sized zip link beds which can be unzipped to create 6 single beds. The other 2 rooms are twin rooms so in total the house sleeps 10. We ask that visitors advise how many beds they require when booking so we can arrange the rooms accordingly!
There are 2 shower rooms with electric power showers (one is an en-suite off the rear bedroom) and there is also a separate WC.
The kitchen is of a good size and is well equipped with everything you would expect - fridge, oven and hob, microwave, cooking utensils, pots, bowls, crockery etc. There is also a breakfasting area suitable for a couple of people to sit at and eat or chat with the chef while in the kitchen. There is a separate Utility room with sink, washing machine and freezer.
The living room is a large space with 3 sofas that can easily seat 10/11 people and has amazing views over the loch. It has a large TV with Freeview box. The property has WiFi throughout, with a 60Mb download speed.
The dining room is in the conservatory next to the living room to the rear of the property and has a very large table that can accommodate 10 people easily for large gatherings.
The house has central heating throughout which is controlled via a time clock.
The bungalow has a fully enclosed garden - walled to the front and side with fencing enclosing the rest. There is a gate across the drive which can be closed to ensure the safety of any children playing in the garden.
There is a parking area and a long driveway which can accommodate 4 or more cars.
The garage can be used for storing bikes, wetsuits, surfboards or just muddy boots during your stay.
There is a patio area to the rear of the conservatory with a table and chairs which can be used as an additional entertaining or relaxing area.
Check in time is 3pm on the day of arrival and check out time is 10am on the day of departure.
The bungalow is located in the middle of Bruichladdich and is approx 3 minutes walk to the distillery where you can sample various whiskys, Botanist gin made in the distillery and also take tours of the distillery or partake in the cocktail making classes. They also have a lovely gift shop stocked with a seating area where you can sit and sample the produce!
There is also a small mini market and cafe just along from the house which serves the best bacon rolls on the island, sandwiches and lovely Italian coffee, teas and soft drinks. So if you fancy breakfast or lunch or maybe just a coffee and a cake then we'd recommend a visit to the Mini Market. The carrot cake is fantastic!
Opposite the house is the loch and as it is relatively shallow it is possible to paddle and swim. Further into Bruichladdich there is a pier from which you can fish or perhaps try your hand at crabbing.
Approx 2 miles away is Port Charlotte where you will find various restaurants serving fresh seafood and locally sourced oysters amongst other things. The bars and pubs are always full of very friendly locals and visitors always willing to have a chat. There is The Port Charlotte hotel which offers accommodation, food and live music at various times of the year. There is also Yan's Kitchen and the Lochindaal pub both offering excellent food. Just outside Port Charlotte is Port Mor, a campsite with onsite restaurant open to the public. This is a nice place to visit with children as there is an outside play park for the children to enjoy.
If you are a lover of Whisky then Islay is definitely the place to visit. Currently there are 8 distilleries on the Island with the 9th currently being built. Ardnahoe should be finished and ready for visitors in late May, just in time for Islay's Whisky Festival - Feis Ile which is usually held over 9 days. Each distillery has an open day where you can sample each whisky and enjoy some music and food.
There are various other celebrations and experiences on Islay which make it a great place to visit. There is walking week, jazz festival, beach rugby tournament, Islay Half Marathon, Ride of the Falling rain 100m mile bike ride, the Islay Show and much more. Islay is a beautiful place to visit and has a lot of wildlife right on your door step.
Finally please don’t forget the Islay Wave! If you are a driver it is customary to acknowledge other cars on the road with a wave of your hand. It's a friendly thing to do and makes you feel part of Islay life.

Beautiful property overlooking Loch Indaal. Well appointed, very nicely decorated and located close to Bruichladdich Distillery. Ideal place for a quiet getaway.
Great bungalow with plenty of space for the 8 of us. Short walk to distillery which was a bonus and central location for exploring Islay. Beautiful views from the lounge.
We had a great weekend staying at the house for a stag weekend, and enjoyed exploring the area including distilleries, the Port Charlotte hotel for live music, and the next door cafe for excellent coffee and company
Such a comfortable, well stocked, and well organized house! Proximity to the beach was amazing. We had a wonderful stay with 4 adults, 5 kids. Clair was a very attentive and helpful host and we had an excellent stay.

This is a great location for Islay. Bruichladdich is just a few blocks away. You can look across the bay to see Bowmore on the other shore. The views were stunning. The house was everything we hoped for. Would definitely stay here again.
We had a great time on Islay, house was great with nice views and close walk to the distillery. Weather was nice too so that’s an extra bonus. Will definitely be back.
Property has everything we would ever need for our stay! The location was perfect with amazing views and only 20mins to Bowmore for any shopping needs. Claire was responsive and helpful. Highly recommend!
What a gem of a bungalow in beautiful Islay! The house was spotless. We are a group of two families (6 children, 10 total) traveling around Islay. The beds were comfortable, kitchen was well stocked. The best part was the VIEW! Located right on the water, you cross the street and are on the beach. The kids were able to cross the street in the evenings to play. We walked to two of our restaurants, which was a short 2 mile walk along the loch into Port Charlotte. The house is about 5 houses down from Bruichladdich Distillery! We frequented the mini-mart, which was 3 houses down and had a lovely owner who made hot sandwiches and coffee as well. We had the best time in Islay- so many things to do and see. We hope to be back, and we would be lucky to get to stay in this beautiful home!! Truly an unforgettable experience!!Photo 1 on the beach in front of the bungalowPhoto 2 the pathway to Port CharlottePhoto 3 highland cow on our path, walking to Port Charlotte.
House was as stated. Spacious hallway, 4 very decent bedrooms and one smaller twin room that would suit smaller children. All beds were excellent, very comfortable. Large dining table in the sun room off the large comfy living room with amazing picture window view over the beach and Loch Indaal. Location was amazing as we just had to cross the road (not busy) to get to the beach. We used the area everyday to paddleboard and climb the rocks. When we were done the boards stored in the garage along with our bicycles. Morning coffee on the front porch, kids playing on the lawn or on the beach. We had a great family holiday. Thank you Claire.
Great value stay for a larger group, nice location with views over Loch Indaal. The house is well-equipped and has generous rooms, and Claire was a great host who was on hand to answer our queries.
Accomodation was very good. WE stayed with 7 Adults and found everything well prepared. The only thing I would like to remark: One or two new frying pans would be great.
This house was perfect for our group of four people. Lots of room, super clean, great views of Loch Indaal. Claire was very easy to work with. I'm sure we'll return.
A very nice and clean house with a stunning view! 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, cosy dining room.
With the owner Claire, we had an excellent communication. When you have a question no problem.
A real recommendation *****
We had a fantastic trip to Islay for New Year. Failte house was great and Claire was very helpful. The house was ideal for us, it had everything we needed and has beautiful views. The location is right in Bruichladdich, minutes walking distance from the distillery and a nice coastal walk to Port Charlotte that takes about an hour. I would definitely recommend this house for others to stay in.
Few things that would of made it 5* - better showers.. they are not very powerful.

Mucky house - the landlord don't anderstand any
Story for reflection: If we went the first time into the house on Sunday we had to cleaned the floor and opened the windows and doors, the floor dried after a while. The pans are Dirty. One still had broccoli in it, the other was greasy! During our stay there were someone in the house who didn't clean up after work. Remnants of the wall plaster lie on the floor!
