Luxury Highland Hideaway with Hot Tub by LochNess
Upper Dunain Cottage is a luxury secluded cottage in a unique setting - midway between Loch Ness and the city of Inverness ( 5 Minutes each way). Sitting in an historic highland estate the secured location has fully fenced gardens offering direct access to wonderful hill and forest walks up to the Great Glen Way and the wilderness of the highlands and yet is only minutes from the amenities of a major town and nearby transport hubs. It is also a great starting point for the North 500.
The outdoor space also has plenty of seating and dining areas with a fire pit, bbq and wood fired hot tub with its own decking and pagoda. Please note that this is a working farm so there is often livestock around in addition to a plethora of wildlife including deer, pine martins, red squirrels and birds of all description.
Up to two dogs are welcome, but please keep in mind the wildlife - so keep gates shut.
The cosy sitting room has a wood burning stove, books, games and TV with free view, netflix, amazon prime etc. It also has beautiful views both sides of the room.
The extensive kitchen/diner is fully equipped with an integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher, induction hob, electric oven, air fryer and every amenity you could wish for. The dining section has a table with seating for up to 5 and has an electric wood burner and a sound docking system.
There is a separate Utility room complete with integrated washing machine and tumble dryer, out door equipment and plenty of storage.
Two comfortable bedrooms one with a King size bed and the other set up as 2 full 3 ft singles. On request, at time of booking, we can put these together to make one bed. required. Both bedrooms have direct access outside via french windows and have their own seating areas.
All linen and bedding is high quality Egyptian cotton from Tielle Loves Luxury as recommended by House and Garden Magazine and Country Life and is also used by many 5* hotels. The bedding is hypoallergenic
By request and by separate arrangement we can also provide a cot
All soaps and shampoos are organic and sourced from the Highland Soap Company.
There is one large shower room and one large bathroom with a beautiful view to the hills.
I have supplied a comprehensive house manual in which you will also find suggestions for day trips, visitor attractions, shops, restaurants etc - in addition I have also included all the required emergency numbers that you might need during your stay.

Absolutely gorgeous cottage with everything you need. Great attention to detail. Such a peaceful beautiful spot. Close to Inverness and all the surrounding sights. Highly recommended!
The cottage was lovely and the grounds were beautiful. The host was amazing and helped us after we arrived there to find no power at the home, due to a storm that had passed through earlier in the day. Luckily she was able to move us to another place for the night.

Home away from home in a beautiful private rural setting
The cottage is in a very private setting and has everything you need for a holiday away from home. The check-in instructions are clear and simple. The few ocasions we contacted the owner resulted in very quick responses and resolution of our minor issues.
Very beautiful location! The ONLY challenge was finding it the first time. The Upper Dunain sign by the highway is small and in a shady spot. The owner was very helpful once we settled in. Great cottage! Wish we'd stayed longer!

A lovely cottage with everything you need. Very tastefully decorated, great utility area for coming back and after walking dogs. Very private with a large garden area. Lovely walks from the property. Close to Inverness if you needed anything. Hosts were great with communication. Very warm cottage so was never cold. Visited in February. Comfortable beds.

Stay at Upper Dunain
Had a lovely restful few days at Upper Dunain. The house is ideally situated to have some peace, privacy and be surrounded by the estate land/woods - red kites flying around every day. Completely fenced in and my border collie loved the freedom while I knew he was safely contained within the grounds. Will be back …

Enchanting Getaway
When I arrived, I thought I was in the shire and that Gandalf the Grey would appear at any moment. And that's just the vibe. Beautifully appointed, clean, instructions for everything needed in the home.
Traveling from abroad with no experience in this area, we found the home easily, payment process was secure and fairly priced, and our stay albeit brief was wonderful!
Would absolutely return.
Thank you, Dochfour Estates!
The house was immaculate, clean and very comfy with great facilities. It was located in a rural area that felt remote and peaceful but was still just a short drive from shops, Inverness and a great base to see more of Scotland. Garden was safely enclosed for our wee dog to explore and right outside the back gate was a beautiful woodland trail where we saw lots of nature. The hot tub was especially welcome and so relaxing along with the fire in the living room that lasted for ages and kept the room cosy. Good shower, coffee machine and beds. Overall a wonderful place for a break.

A great place to stay, for us and our dogs.
We found be bungalow easily thanks to the detailed dirctions provided. The bungalow was excellent in all respects. Its position was better than we expected or could have expected. The garden was, as was stated, dog secure with excellent but not obtrusive fencing. There was plenty of parking for our car and trailer.
The bungalow had everything you need including very good internet connection.
The property is ideally situated for touring.
Would we return, very much so. It provided the perfect base for our holiday, our dogs throughly enjoyed themselves.

Just amazing - we loved our stay
We have just spent the most wonderful four nights at Upper Dunain. The house and location looked lovely online but when we arrived we were blown away. Everything is gorgeous, spotlessly clean and high quality. We loved the hot tub and once heated it didn’t take long to get warm again. We didn’t want to leave and this has certainly raised the bar for what we want when on holiday. The weather wasn’t great but this didn’t matter as much as we had such a lovely place to relax in and we could use the hot tub at anytime as it was well covered. All the team we spoke to from first booking and then any queries along were very helpful. Thank you so much we will certainly be back if we are in the area again.
The cottage was idyllic in a perfect location and so peaceful. Beautiful garden and the house was gorgeous. The only issue i had was with the sofa in the living room, being disabled i chose the cottage because it was accessible which it was apart from the sofa which eas so lowndown i was unable to get out ofbit without help and it was extremely uncomfortable for mento sit on. The outdoor seating was the same and i was unable to sit outside as i could not get in and out of the chair which was a shame as the garden was stunning. I would definitely recommend it but maybe not ideal for anyone suffering with arthritis.
A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location, lots of little touches, everthing provided. Idealic escape!

Our Christmas far away from home
Absolutely beautiful this was our second visit here and it didn’t disappoint. There was a problem with the hot tub but was fixed in a couple of hours well done lads we wanted to thank them before they left. Absolutely perfect place to stay for us we love Scotland and it’s scenery and lovely people too look forward to visiting again.
We picked the Cottage in Upper Dunain based on its pictures and description, and it exceeded our expectations! The property owner has thought of everything to make for a comfortable stay. We cooked wonderful meals together in the well-equipped kitchen, took the picnic bag and swimming towels out on excursions, and enjoyed our time together in all the cottage spaces. Highly recommend this property, and would stay there again any time!

A splendid cottage in a splendid location
Upper Dunain is a delightful place to stay. It is extremely well appointed, cosy and located perfectly between Loch Ness and Inverness.
All the instructions provided were very clear and Gigina was swift and responsive in her communications.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here. A real gem of a find,

Wonderful stay at Upper Dunain Cottage - Highly recommend
We had a fantastic stay in Upper Dunain Cottage. The cottage was beautiful, clean and very well equipped. The large utility room and luxurious bathrooms were very much appreciated. The location couldn’t be better- only minutes away from Inverness centre by car yet set in the most beautiful, secluded spot. Mile after mile of forest track accessible straight from the garden. Beautiful, well landscaped grounds including seating areas, fire pit and hot tub. Outdoor fairy lights were a nice touch. Thank you, we had a wonderful time

Absolutely fabulous
We loved this 5 star cottage! Very well furnished, kitchen well stocked, clean and comfortable. The setting is perfect too, surrounded by trees, fields and quietness apart from the birds singing. We loved sitting in the hot tub looking at the view and then snuggling in the lounge watching tv. The bed was comfortable and we slept really well. We drove around Loch Ness stopping off at various places such as the Fiddlers Highland restaurant for lunch. We also ate at IV10 which was great. One morning we woke up to see about 20 deer in the field behind the cottage before they ran off into the woods.
We would definitely recommend Upper Dunain and would love to return.
