"I was really looking forward to this trip to Nishiyama Onsen. The hot water springs were amazing the staff not so accommodating. Lots of bowing and thank yous but no real assistance. We requested soy sauce with our appetizer and they said no and wouldn't bring it. Check in is 3PM and check out is 10 AM. It's a rather expensive undertaking considering that the property is quite remote. I really wanted to stay there because of the history, the oldest continuously inhabited hotel in the world. Sadly I was put in the newer rooms so I didn't really get that experience. They practically kick you out at 10:00AM, I was organizing my luggage and the desk clerk approached me and barked, you have to settle your bill, as if I would try and leave without paying. They weren't even prepared I had to wait while they added up all the charges. I have never been treated so poorly anywhere else in the world."

"The room was super comfortable and roomy. The soaking tub in the bathroom was amazing because you could have it hot all the time. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. You should note that some of the rooms are not close to the soaking pools or the restaurant. You have to go through a locked door to the street, walk for 5 minutes, enter another building for the soaking pool and restaurant. This place has one small pool for soaking so if you're looking for an onsen experience it would not be here."

"12th floor onsen view was truly breathtaking. The staff were very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was healthy and delicious. The room was clean and comfortable. We truly enjoyed our stay. "A small but lovely hot spring onsite. Price was very reasonable. Free breakfast was nice. Organic vegetables was a nice touch. Room was serviceable but similar to a business hotel in size. One nice touch was tge large table and bench. Nice for foreigners that there were English instructions throughout hotel. Air conditioning, and toilet had English. Iida is a lovely city, I particularly like the apple Street. It must be lovely in apple season. And senjojiki cirque is only 25 mins drive away. Would definitely recommend."
