Guests have the entire cabin, the driveway, and the area around it. One owner's closet stays locked, and the detached garage isn't available for guest use.

St. Mary's is a small, secluded mountain community above Idaho Springs in Arapaho National Forest. Some neighbors' homes are visible, others are hidden in the trees, and a glacier sits at the top of the neighborhood with a trailhead right there. Quiet, forested, and high. You can grab dinner in town when you want it, then come back up to actual silence and a sky full of stars.

A regular car is fine to get here in summer. From October through May, AWD or 4WD is required. Fall River Road is paved and plowed by the county year-round, but it's a steep switchback climb that gets snow-packed and icy in winter, so the right vehicle and slow driving matter.

Real talk, so there are no surprises. This is a high mountain cabin, and that comes with a few things worth knowing before you book:

🚙 AWD or 4WD required October through May, recommended year-round. Fall River Road is paved, and the county plows it aggressively, but it's a steep switchback mountain road that gets snow-packed and icy. Come prepared. Note: if roads are open and you can't make it up, refunds aren't issued, so the right vehicle matters.

🏔 ~10,000 ft elevation. Altitude is real here. Take day one easy, drink extra water, and expect to be winded on the glacier hike. Bring layers; mountain weather shifts fast.

🌲Enjoy the Mountain Air: Like many homes at this elevation, this property does not have air conditioning. The fresh mountain breeze makes it easy to cool the home by opening the windows, and temperatures naturally drop in the evenings. For added comfort, portable fans and ceiling fans are available in the home to help keep the air circulating.

❄️ Snow is possible any month of the year. You may need to shovel a short path to the door, and walkways can get icy. We keep it as clear as we can, but use caution.

📱 Cell service is spotty on the mountain and varies by carrier. Save your WiFi password and door code before you head up. WiFi at the cabin is reliable.
