A relaxing break

We had a great time at Pear Tree Cottage as it was just perfect for our needs and the weather was really mild (mid Nov). The cottage itself was clean and comfortable but the main reason we picked it was because we took the dog and the tiled floors, fenced sitting area outside and huge private garden meant that we didn't have to worry about him too much. With regard to it's position, it is just across the road from the white horse pub which serves meals (excellent choice) and allows dogs in the bar. Obviously the walks around North Norfolk are absolutely suberb (Holkam, Wells etc) but Pear Tree is just 10 mins walk from huge expanses of empty beaches. Our new favourite was walking to the car park at the end of 'Beach Road' as stated 10 mins, and then walking down the beach to Old Hunstanton where there is a lovely little cafe (The Old Boathouse Cafe) which depending on where you walk, how many other dogs yours plays with can take 1 to 2 hours then after refreshment return. Tranquility on earth!!!!!

Cottage clean & tidy but cutlery, china and utensils etc were not.

Had to wash plates, glasses, cutlery and all utensils before use. Possibly an issue with the dish washer just not cleaning properly - we washed everything by hand. In the drawer next to the oven there is a a cheese grater that is growing penicillin - could not bring myself to clean this so left it to continue rotting. The broom was not very practical - a decent broom or a hoover and I could have have floor cleaner! Location lovely. Cottage cosy. Not sure its big enough for 4 to eat in the kitchen though. Outside space great but too cold this time of year to make the most of it.

Good for a short stay

Pear tree is very well decorated and has everything you need. Our only gripe was that we could smell dogs and as non dog owners, it was unpleasant.

Great location for beach access and dog walks

We booked our cottage to be able to go on lots of walks with our relatively new dog. This was our first holiday with him and the location was perfect, with walks along the beach to a cafe at HUNSTANTON and a longer walk to Thornton. The cottage had everything you needed. The outside space though was not private although there was a garden, which is not directly attached to the cottage, the patio area immediately outside was open to everyone walking past. Finally I would advise that the pathway into the property should be kept clear, the plants were overhanging and lots of items to step over to gain access.

Peaceful location

Quaint cottage was in a peaceful location and well placed for walking locally or driving to nearby Old Hunstanton and Thornham. It was fairly well equipped but was let down by chipped crockery, dirty pans, cigarette burns in bedding and no oven gloves. We had wonderful weather and we went out and about every day, so didn't spend a massive amount of time indoors and we didn't make a big deal over the niggles.

Lovely cottage but expensive

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was well equipped and cosy, and the location perfect for us. However we feel that various items in the kitchen were not very clean, to the point we felt the need to clean plates and the inside of the microwave before using. We also found cat paw prints all over the bed sheet and one of the towels. I took a photo of this. Overall a lovely cottage, only let down by the cleaners.

Pear tree cottage

We had a lovely stay here at pear tree cottage, would definitely come back. On arrival the cottage was very clean and comfortable and everything worked !! Shower was excellent ,and heating good too. Nothing negative about this lovely cottage. We had a very comfortable week and crammed a lot in during our stay. The beaches in the surrounding are are just stunning. We slept well, even our 12 year old golden retriever did too!!! Very dog friendly area , and the cottage has an enormous garden and again beautifully kept. I would recommend this cottage without any reservations Lynn Nick and Tugboat ( golden retriever)

Our stay in a North Norfolk Cottage

We had a four night stay at Pear Tree Cottage in Holme next The Sea in mid September. The cottage is very pretty and extremely well equipped with good quality furnishing and equipment. The separate garden is large and was very good for the dog to play in. All in all an extremely comfortable and pleasant place to stay.

Interesting cottage

Lovely little cottage, but found the stairs a trial with my Mum and I having hip replacements and also the bath has high sides which made it impossible for my Mum to have a shower. Other wise great. Great food in the pub opposite. Your own parking spot would be nice.

Short stay at Pear Tree Cottage

Having stayed in various villages with Norfolk Hideways in the past, we thought we'd venture further west at opted for Holme Next The Sea. Lovely little hamlet, most off the main road. Pear Tree Cottage is in the middle of 4 or 5 of a row of terraced cottages, opposite the pub, which were apparently converted from a barn some time ago. Cottage was fine for the 2 of us and dogs, small rooms but big enough for a holiday bolt. There were 2 addition single beds upstairs in the converted loft. Cottages has it's own attached small yard at rear and a large garden offset from the house approx. 10m further along rear patch. Plenty of room to play ball with dogs. Loads of places to eat and brink locally, Thornham Delie has an excellent cafe and we found The Orange Tree in Thornham to be very good.

Delightful Cottage, wonderful location

Pear Tree was a delightful place with top notch decor and outstanding facilities. I've never known a place so well equipped and where everything worked. The location is outstanding, off the beaten track with walking access straight out to Holme Beach. What's not to like, lovely.

Pear tree cottage

Fabulous cottage location brilliant it does need to be clearer at point of booking that the garden is adjacent to the property we didn't know that until the instructions came I will book again but some people particularly elderly might need the garden out the back door not down the short path? Really cost for winter holidays too. Thank you for a lovely break.
