Another great stay at the Crown & Garter. Friendly helpful check in & room was very comfortable & spotless as usual.
Had a meal with family in the evening & can definitely recomnend eating here - food is excellent, using local ingredients.
Had bacon rolls to takeaway on checkout, which was a nice surprise.
Looking forward to our next stay - we wouldn't go anywhere else when visiting the area.
The room was great and the outside area in the coutyard was lovely to sit in and relax.
The staff were all very helpful in both the pub and on site cafe.
Lovely country pub with bedrooms in an annex around a pretty courtyard. Very comfortable bed, everything was spotless in the room. Ideal location for visiting Highclere Castle. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant was very good.
We had a great stay here, enjoyed breakfast and evening meal, catered for a gluten free diet. Hotel room was spacious, very clean and a comfortable bed. Hotel staff friendly and proffesional. Would definetly reccomend.
Nice stay once again, it’s our 3rd time visiting
Our evening meal was delicious & only thing that would have made the trip perfect was the face there wasn’t no bacon sandwich available for breakfast.

Short stay
Fantastic stay as usual. Friends staff and locals! The food was fabulous lamb shank for my husband and sea bream for me. Every mouthful gave a lovely taste. We come here often and every time it is excellent. Highly recommend
Set in a rural location, this is a quaint pub with accommodation. We stayed one night; room and bathroom was very clean and all that we needed. Loved the walk in shower.
Breakfast was good, staff friendly.
Just loved this place, all staff, afternoon, eve and at breakfast were all lovely and couldn't be more helpful.
Lovely rooms, comfortable beds and surrounding a pretty courtyard.
I would be very happy to go back.
This place is beautiful! A hidden gem in the countryside. The staff are so polite and helpful. The grounds are beautiful, rooms really comfy and spacious and food is really delicious.
This is the second time we have been to the Crown and Garter. We went because the area is quiet and we wanted to explore a bit more. Staff are friendly and chatty, food is good and the ambiance relaxing. The courtyard garden is beautiful and the grounds are well maintained.
I’d recommend a stay here.

Lovely return visit
Third time staying here and as ever it was fantastic. Requested a room nearer the pub ad my husband has walking difficulties and got our favourite Room 1. Wonderful meal the beef cheeks were excellent. Superb service from every member of staff. Our only criticism which i have fed back directly is we dont like the milk sachets used on the drinks tray in bedroom does not match the standard of the bedroom would prefer fresh milk perhaps in a small flask

Nice stay, some improvements could make it better
This is a very friendly and sociable hotel. Staff great, food options delicious. Staff go out of the way to make you feel at home. Lovely gardens and surroundings. Rooms well decorated with good amenities.
There are a couple of downsides.
The mattress on the bed was firmer than we’d have liked.
The next point was that someone had fallen asleep in their room and left their TV on all night. There are no staff available to contact out of hours so little could be done to resolve this . This led to a poor night’s sleep overall.
The room could also do with a fan or air conditioning.

1 night stay on way home from Wales
We have stayed here many times and due to my husbands walking difficulties always book room 1nearest to the pub facility. Unfortunately there had been a change around of rooms due to urgent repairs needed and we were allocated another room but the TV didn’t work. So we’re allocated yet another room. Still a lovely room but not our preferred room. Very grateful for the free bottle of wine offered to us as acknowledgement of the room issues. The wine was thoroughly enjoyed on the outside patio after a delicious meal (as always). We love this Inn and would absolutely recommend it food fantastic service wonderful. We will of course be back
The hotel room itself was very beautiful, stylishly furnished, with lovely architecture and a view of a wonderful courtyard. A particular highlight was the young man at the reception in the evening. He was exceptionally friendly, attentive and professional. The restaurant offered good food, and the location in the middle of the English countryside is truly charming.
Unfortunately, our stay was marred by several negative experiences. A loud party on a neighboring property went on until around 2 a.m., making it impossible to sleep. No one was available at the hotel during the night. The reception was unmanned, and the contact number provided did not work. Even if a hotel is beautifully designed, in the end, what matters most is being able to sleep. Unfortunately, that was not possible for a long time.
During dinner at the hotel restaurant, the young woman serving us appeared unmotivated and bored. Her friendliness seemed clearly forced. Unfortunately, the same impression continued the next morning at breakfast. Her colleague looked extremely tired. It almost seemed as if he had attended the party himself. The restaurant floor also had not been cleaned and was still dirty from the night before.
