Due to bank holiday i had to extend my radius so i chose the carlton hotel due to price and easability to travel
It is a very basic place (its a pub) and the rooms are drab and under equipped
I had a shower but no soap or towels
Couldn't sleep due to room rattling and music
No spoon for tea and coffee facilities but milk was off anyway
The bedding was stained as well
No breakfast and only cash taken for room and no receipt
Very disappointed
I stayed at The Carlton Hotel during Hull Fair so the area was busy.
The room was basic but had a tv, kettle and en-suite. As someone else has mentioned there was no spoon to stir any drink.
When I arrived the bin was full, the toilet hadn’t been flushed, the only cup (I was in a double room) was dirty and there was hardly any toilet roll. The member of staff who showed me my room fixed all of these quickly.
Even though the fair was on the room was not particularly noisy and I had a good nights sleep.
The rooms are confusing to find as they are all over the place and there is no signage.
Parking is in a private lot behind the building which appears to be owned by someone else. I got back from at about 8pm and couldn’t get into the car park but staff quickly sorted somewhere for me to park.
The photos of the communal space are out of date, this space now appears to be a storage area.
I read bad reviews about this hotel before I booked it so I was expecting the worst. But to be honest for the room I was in, it wasn't too bad for £25. The bedding was clean. It smelled fresh and it was soft. The girls at the reception/bar were friendly too. The only problem was, surprise surprise, of all the people, the reservation manager, as he called himself. He was rude, didn't care what you thought and used swear words to show that he didn't care what you thought. If you're on a tight budget and for one night only, maybe you can stay there, but alone, no kids or girlfriend/wife. No parking on site but I surprisingly found parking easy just outside the hotel on the street.
