About this property
Craftsman Style River House sitting on the French Broad River!
NEW HOT TUB INSTALLED MARCH 2025!!!! Please come stay! We are open for guests and River Rd has been repaired. If you want something different you have found it! Constructed from reclaimed materials by the owner featuring two bedrooms and two full baths w/deluxe showers. We are located 6 miles (3 of the six miles are gravel) from the Appalachian Trail town of Hot Springs, NC and a 45 minute drive from Asheville NC.
Perfect for a relaxing get away and equally great for the outdoor enthusiast! Sit on the porch and watch the River flow by! Build a campfire and roast some marshmallows, maybe even pitch a tent. Put on your hiking shoes and enjoy some of the many nearby trails. The French Broad River works great for Kayaks, Canoes, Tubes and Rafts. Put in up river and get out right at your cabin! We are told by local fishermen that we have one of the best fishing spots on the River! Also, just down the road is a Premier Trout Fishing Creek located in the "Paint Creek Corridor." Close to Mtn. Bike Trails a world class Trout Fishing Stream, hiking or back packing. This is a bird watchers paradise! You may catch a glimpse of the resident bald eagle that frequently circles overhead or hear the geese honking as they fly up and down the river in formation.
Pull out your bicycle and ride a 24 mile loop from Paint Creek to Hot Springs or a shorter 12 mile loop through Paint Creek Corridor and back. One of the greatest features to enjoy is the large, beautiful wrap around porch (NOW WITH HOT TUB!) and the private upper veranda On the main level you enter from covered car port into open concept, full kitchen/living dining area with table and room to sit at the bar. Leather Sectional, wood beams and fireplace with stone profile and wood stove insert add to the cozy feel of the cabin. The bedroom on main level has walk in closet and King Size Bed. Main level bathroom is large w/Washer & Dryer, large tile shower and exit to wrap around covered porch that is 750 sq feet and has multiple doors for entry/exit convenience.
Upstairs, the Master Suite w/King Size bed and en suite bathroom has french doors leading to a private covered veranda overlooking the river. Hear the sounds of the rushing river and bask in the afternoon sun in private.
We hope you can come enjoy the peace and tranquility of this beautiful spot surrounded by the Pisgah and Cherokee National Forest and the French Broad River! Note: Ring Camera installed on door where you enter on carport for added security.

Warm welcoming place to vacation. Every amenity you need is there. Plenty of outdoor activity around the area to enjoy. Contact with property manager was easy and professional. Definitely a vacation place i will book again.
This cabin along the river is truly a hidden gem! Quiet and private, right on the river. Only a 15 min drive to downtown Hot Springs and several hikes and bikes. Great stay for a family or a couple in a getaway. It exceeded my expectations!
Wonderful experience, large bathrooms, lots of porch space for relaxing, plenty of pots/pans/cooking stuff. We didn't need a property so large it turned out, but it was very nice.
Wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed it! Cabin is a little ways outside of hot springs but is absolutely gorgeous sitting on the river. Great place to get away and relax. Grab a cup of coffee, sit on the porch, and listen to the river!
I was amazed at the beautiful craftsmanship of this home. Everything was clean and orderly. My family enjoyed the fishing and swimming in the Frenchbroad River. Thank you Leann for being a great host.
The house itself is incredible. I marveled for days at the log cabin type construction. The porch overlooking the river is awesome. Such a roomy, private, serene property. The wifeand I really lovy loved it!
Second time staying at this amazing house. Loved the porch overlooking river, watching wildlife (saw an eagle), and especially being secluded and quiet! Very relaxing anniversary.
We thoroughly enjoyed the cabin, which is beautifully constructed with a rustic appearance and sits on the bank of the French Broad River. The cabin is perfectly designed and is cozy and comfortable. We loved the open kitchen, the wide covered porch and the sense of being remote without actually being in the middle of nowhere. We never left the cabin but instead enjoyed the peaceful space and the gorgeous view.
Loved the house... very comfortable. We came up to fish but it rained so there was no fishing to be had, so we drove around and had lovely adventures.
Definitely need all wheel or 4 wheel drive to get to house as several miles are a lovely gravel road right along the river.
This home is absolutely beautiful inside with comfortable furnishings and beautiful decor. And the porch…well that is where you will want to spend most of your time. The sound of the river flowing by is so peaceful and porch is so big you can enjoy sitting outside even if it’s pouring rain. The hot tub is very nice and easy to open and close, even with one person. Leann was wonderful and check in and out was a breeze. You can still see evidence of Helene, with clean up still being done in the area, but many places in town were starting to open. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Check-in was great. This home is not a cabin but a beautifully thought-out and constructed home. The proportions are way more comfortable than the pictures and "cabin" imply. I really liked that the home had some provisions but lots of room for ours. My communications with Leann were efficient, kind and clear. I hope we can return many times.
The house was perfect for our stay. We had everything we needed to enjoy a comfortable fishing trip on the French Broad River. We caught fish we never caught before. You can also enjoy a very quick drive or walk to Tennessee and fish some of the fishing holes in the area. There is a lot to explore and do other than fishing. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to get away and enjoy the surroundings of the French Broad River. Will visit again in the near future.
This place is truly a one of a kind peaceful & magical retreat. I couldn’t decide what I liked best, hiking the numerous trails nearby, walking the dogs to & throughout the Paint Creek corridor right down the road, riding my mountain bike down River Road, soaking in my tube on the French Broad (tasty beverage in hand of course!), or just sitting out on the spacious deck watching the river flow by. I even saw a river otter swim by! We are in love with the area & with this cabin, it felt like staying in the Smokies without the awful crowds, spectacular!!! ❤️
This was a fantastic girls weekend with my girls. A gorgeous cabin right on the river with an amazing deck. We saw eagles, ospreys and an otter swimming by while having coffee on the deck. We also relaxed at the near by hot spring spas for an hour got dinner at one of the local taverns. Tried our hands at fishing while relaxing near the water. Amazing place to relax and unwind. Definitely coming back for a much longer stay.
FYI: Stop at a grocery store prior to coming into the local town it has very few options if you want particular food options or wine.
Our 80th VRBO / vacation rental and it was one of the most unique houses we’ve stayed in. Met the owners when we arrived 15 min early and upon entering the house I told them y’all need new photos! The ones on their listing isnot doing justice to this amazing property. It’s HUGE! Top of the line ! Everything you need for restful sleep, comfort, feeding yourselves. Well stocked kitchen. The porch and the river below is awesome…unfortunately the extreme heat that we’ve been experiencing where at home followed us and it was too hot to sit outside except early in the day. Communication was great with the owner and we had a great five days looking at mountains and enjoying a change of scenery. Thanks y’all!
What a perfect place to relax and enjoy the river and the beautiful mountain town of Hot Springs! The house is super clean and really beautiful. It's private but not isolated, right in the Pisgah Forest on the French Broad River. I visited with a friend and we each had a large, comfortable bedroom and bath. The kitchen is nicely equipped with everything we needed and the living area has good quality, comfy furniture. Best of all is the large porch and second story balcony on the river. A wedding venue across the river (and out of sight) happened to have great music on the weekend evenings that we could enjoy from the privacy of our zero gravity chairs watching the river flow by. We saw an amazing full moon, fireflies, lots of birds and bunnies and waded in the river to cool off. It would be a great place to tube or canoe. The little town of Hot Springs just 6 miles away is an interesting mixture of locals, tourists and through hikers from the AT and has a couple of good restaurants. Leann was a responsive and pleasant host. I would definitely return! Maybe next time for autumn leaves and the use of the great fireplace.
