Lovely stay, meal was ok (medium steak was very well done) well presented and good portions. Very nice and welcoming staff. Whether was typical Cumbria but I was there for work so didn’t effect me
Really welcoming and friendly staff and we had a lovely meal and delicious breakfast . We chose this hotel because of the secure motorbike parking which was great as we were on a new bike and there was a downpour during the night. We'd definitely go back.
The property is badly in need of major refurbishment. On arrival, first impressions are really disappointing. The exterior of the property is scruffy looking. Our room, although spacious had filthy windows, torn curtains, very unkempt, no ambiance or atmosphere in the bar area. We stayed 2 nights, but saw only 1 other table used for breakfast. Not surprised the hotel is not busy. Wouldn’t recommend until some major changes are made. Which is shame because the surrounding are is very picturesque.

We stayed on bank holiday weekend and it was dead. The bar/pub had 3 people in it, there was no background music or atmosphere so was just a little awkward. We moved into the dining room with the intention of having dinner but changed our minds after seeing the condition. The tables appeared to be dressed all differently, I couldn’t figure out if they’d been used by previous customers or not, just presented as untidy and unclean. We sat down on one table after finding 2 chairs with seats that weren’t completely worn down but the cutlery just looked unclean and we thought it best to seek food elsewhere for dinner on both evenings. The lady who seemed to be juggling every job was very pleasant and kind, she just presented as absolutely run off her feet!
The kettle in the room was covered in dust and the bathroom was questionable, there was a weird brown mark next to the toilet under the window seal smothered across the wall, on first glance this appeared to be faeces but I think it must have been some sort of sealant that turned brown, we can only hope. The shower was dirty where people stood and there was a long strip plastic hanging off the bottom of the glass which connected to the bath. I’m not sure what to expect from a 3 star but the previous reviews for this place read very well but in reality It’s not a true reflection. We were told we were the only ones staying for breakfast and felt bad for declining so we had breakfast once, it was alright in fairness!
The staff were exceptional! Great hotel, clean, great food and great views! :)

Not a great Stay
Disappointing, food service ended at 7.30pm on a Friday night. We had to drive for 12 miles to a McDonalds! The cost was expensive for the facilities, the room was tiny. We were situated in the annexe and their was an awful smell in the corridor. When I went to check out, the manager could be heard arguing with someone and she was quite abrupt when she spoke to me afterwards. The positives were the cleanliness and the fungi area for breakfast that overlooked stunning views.
Clean comfortable room, excellent food
Only issue was the opening hours of the pool when most of their customers leave after breakfast and return just before 1800hrs.
Colvid rules too relaxed and not adhered to.
Had a lovely weekend at this hotel, rooms clean and comfortable. Food 10/10!

Over charged
Price advertised on your website was £398 but my card was debited with £420. No microwave or fridge in the room and we weren't allowed hot food in the room. No nice places to dine nearby.
This was a very friendly and well run hotel. We stayed 2 nights and ate here both nights- the food was excellent with a good choice for evening meal + breakfast. We had a lovely big room that included a bath and very efficient shower. Would definitely recommend.

Interesting Pub
Interesting when you book to stay in a pub because you know that food and refreshment will be on tap! and then when you arrive you're told that as the only visitor - the pub would be closed that night and you get put into the 'overflow' rooms out the back.
Saying that the staff were very pleasant and when the pub was open the food is extremely good and very well priced. The area is quiet but the main road does get very noisy as it is the ONLY road down the coast.
