Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Holany?
The best area to stay in Holany is around the Holany Ponds, particularly near the village centre.

This area is the heart of Holany, offering a tranquil setting with direct access to the network of ponds. The village centre itself is small but provides basic amenities, and the surrounding countryside is superb for outdoor pursuits. It's a peaceful spot, away from the hustle and bustle, making it ideal for those seeking a relaxing stay.

Couples looking for a romantic escape will appreciate the serenity of staying by the Holany Ponds. You can enjoy strolls along the water's edge, rent a rowboat, or simply relax with views of the natural landscape. Many accommodations in this area offer comfortable lodging with lovely views, superb for a quiet getaway.

Families will also find the area around the Holany Ponds very suitable. The open spaces and calm waters provide a great environment for children to explore and play. You can easily access walking and cycling paths, and some local guesthouses might offer amenities like gardens or outdoor play areas.
When is the best time to go to Holany?
The best time to visit Holany is during the spring (late April to June) and autumn (September to early October) months for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

During spring, the countryside around Holany comes alive with blooming flowers and lush greenery, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling. The temperatures are mild, typically ranging from 15Ā°C to 22Ā°C, which is superb for exploring the Holany Ponds Nature Reserve and the nearby ruins of Milčany Castle without the summer heat.

Autumn also offers agreeable weather with comfortable temperatures between 10Ā°C and 18Ā°C. The changing leaves provide stunning scenery, especially around the Holany Ponds, making it a wonderful time for photography and relaxed strolls. This period avoids the peak summer tourist season, meaning you'll likely find the attractions and local eateries less busy, offering a more relaxed experience.

Summer (July and August) is the warmest period, with temperatures often exceeding 25Ā°C. While this is popular for water activities on the ponds, it can also be the busiest time, and accommodations might be more expensive.
