Great location, great host
The location was just what I thought it would be. It was easy to get into Hilo town or head to Volcano National Park. The host is very responsive to any needs we had since she is right there on site. The interior was clean and very comfortable. The lanai is perfectly private.

Well appointed apartment in convenient location
The apartment is spacious and airy and very well stocked with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The location is excellent for visiting all of the major tourist attractions and the hosts are very helpful and friendly.

Home away from home
We had a great time in Hilo and it started with a wonderful place to stay. The bed was comfortable, everything was clean and our host was very sweet! She was always willing to listen to our stories of the day. We will definitely stay again when in Hilo.

Ingrid gave us a warm and wonderful welcome to their large studio. The soft Hilo rain and nature sounds were tropical and a sweet departure from our daily life in SoCal. All our conveniences were met from a full fridge, toaster oven, microwave, TV streaming and great hot showers. We didn't use the nice oven and cooktop. The studio is very airy with scenic views including the awesome Mauna Kea. We are so happy to have found this affordable gem in Hilo while visiting friends. Aloha and Mahalo Ingrid, Amon and Keiki!

Ingrid & Amon Falstrom are the perfect welcoming hosts. The neighborhood apt. has nice, airy 2nd floor views. Wake up each day to chirping birds, lulled to sleep at night by coquí frog & chameleon gecko songs. Well appointed, very well-maintained old school furnishings. Well-stocked linens, towels & amenities. A+ lanai perfect for reading writing, meditating, PT exercises, & mindful quiet time. Apt. has amazing cross-ventilation. Free covered parking space is included! Amon is a building contactor, so the apt. has beautiful floors, area rugs, small, but very clean bathroom, very good ppainting finishes inside & out. Very high quality kitchen utensils, dishes, & utensils. Soaps, kitchen & bath supplies all made conveniently available! This can easily be THE go-to-stay place in Hilo!

We love this place
We’ve booked here three times! It’s a great place to stay. So conveniently located, right in a neighborhood in Hilo by a golf course. The host family is next door and Ingrid is very helpful, communicative, and responsive. The photos on VRBO are accurate and the place is clean. Great property with beautiful view on the Golf Club . The big, very clean studio full of light with great balcony to enjoy coffee with tropical fruits! The apartment has a nice kitchen, living area, and a king size bed. Ingrid's hospitality is extraordinary.!

Hilo Stay
A travel companion and I spent three nights with Ingrid and Amon in a studio apartment adjacent to their Hilo home. The apartment met our needs perfectly and the lush green setting, adjacent to the local public golf course was a treat. We walked to the clubhouse restaurant for dinner and drinks, very satisfactory. They serve breakfast and lunch also. We used the local transport system to travel to all locations (except on Sunday when some lines do not run), including the Volcano Natl Park. The apartment is quiet, restful, very clean, equipped with everything we needed. Rain, Coqui frogs, far-away roosters and other noises were not an issue, merely adding to the ambience. We made wonderful juice each morning from the tangelos gathered by Ingrid and her son, many thanks! Highly recommend! Thank you Ingrid and Amon, if life allows I will return some day.

Ingrid’s place had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The studio is clean and well-stocked with all the essentials in the kitchen and bath. We loved our stay at this Vrbo! The location was perfect and the studio was comfy. We enjoyed the lanai, having a kitchen, and the size of the studio. The ice marker in the refrige was also a plus. Ingrid was quick to respond when we had questions/maintenance items. Usually I prefer a stay that is more anonymous, but in this case, having the host onsite worked great. We enjoyed our stay so much that we already booked for next year, 2023!! Can’t wait.

If you want to have a wonderful stay, book this studio with Ingrid and Amon. We shared a feeling of family-friendly for an entire month. They were responsive to special requests. The facilities were comfy, clean, convenient, well-furnished and very helpful. If you want to stay away from tourist crowds and expensive resorts for the uber-wealthy, this is your place. It's well-situated for activities in the Puna, Volcano and Hamakua areas. We also happen to love Hilo and the calm neighborhood of Iwalani.

Hawaiian home vibe
We felt like we walked into a beautiful warm Hawaiian home. So welcoming. The wonderful soft trade winds coming through the windows and the soothing sounds of the Hilo rain falling on the tin roof, coqui frogs and birds singing was such an amazing experience. Very clean, the hostess was so welcoming, beautiful exotic fruit trees and all the amenities needed for a very restful, peaceful vacation. The only downside that we could find was we couldn’t pack up the place and take it back with us. If we return, we’d definitely try to rebook here. Highly recommend. 10 stars out of 5.

Great stay in Hilo!
This studio was a great base for all our adventures on the east side of the island, which is so incredibly beautiful. It was a quick drive/excellent day-trip to Volcanoes National Park, Waipio Valley, etc. Ingrid was so helpful with everything we asked. The apartment is spacious and comfortable and has a great kitchen with everything you need to make your own meals and grocery stores within a few minutes drive of the residential neighborhood. We enjoyed our breakfasts on the balcony. I would note that there are pet dogs and cats on the property. We would definitely stay here again if back in Hilo!

Loved the studio. Very nice. Close to town and highway. Only complaint is the barking dog at 4 a.m. every morning. Travelers tip: Hilo is the cooler side and we only brought light clothes, just happened to be cold when we were there and no heat in the room. Bring an umbrella!

We loved this great studio, neighborhood, and location.
This studio was perfect for me and my husband. Much larger than a hotel room, full kitchen, and enjoyed my morning Kona coffee. We took morning walks around the neighborhood, and our hosts were next door and able to turn off my curling iron that I left on. Location central to all the activities we did. Had a great time on the big island. We will come back!

There's kids in the pool kinda late, but it was hot! The husband was working on a project outside our sitting area, but did stop about 15 minutes after we arrived in the late afternoon. The furniture was worn but comfortable. Great breeze coming through the many windows. Everything you need to cook a meal.

Nice ohana stay
This was a pleasant stay on a working/research trip. The studio was perfect for a single traveler. It would be fine for a couple, or even a small fam. The studio was roomy, with a comfy bed, sofas (futon) and a very workable kitchen. The location was fine for me to access HVNP where I was working. I had no need for downtown, but it's not too bad going in. For Hilo the neighborhood is quiet. Ingrid, Amon and kids are all friendly and helpful. Since I owned my own rental in Volcano until recently, I understand the amount of effort that have put into their place and into visitors. It shows. I especially appreciated the fact that they shared their two Jack Russell mixes with me and let me take them for walks with their son, Keawe. It helped me get my dog fix while away from my own. I hope to return.

25-30 mins to volcanos national park entrance, 10 minutes to most hilo attractions including the falls and caves. Has an electric stove, charcoal bbq, fridge. Also has balcony. No smoking around unit, no air condition which is common in Hilo when the nightly low was 70. Nice unit will return.

A great place to stay
We have spent a month in the Hilo area each of the last five years. We enjoyed staying here in this very clean, spacious, comfortable large studio unit very much.. The location suited us well. The unit is bright with an attractive garden view,has a great lanai (balcony), and a golf course in the background. It is very well equipped with great kitchen, cable tv and excellent high speed internet. Very comfortable bed and on sunny mornings birdsong to wake up to! The road is quiet with little (and calmed) traffic yet it is conveniently located for access to groceries, zoo, snorkelling, hiking at Volcano NP and visiting the beautiful Hawaiian tropical gardens.The family are very friendly and thoughtful, but not intrusive-They generously shared fruit from their garden..(we tried sour-sop for the first time ) and have 2 active children we enjoyed meeting. We would definitely return on our next trip!
