Hospedería de los Parajes

Hospedería de los Parajes

10/10 Excellent
"This was a gem of a hotel located right in the old town. Check in was quick and easy and we were immediately told where to park. The hotel has character! The wine cellar was great and the woman who was there was soooo nice and incredibly helpful in making sure we had the best experience while we were enjoying our wine! Breakfast was also great. Rooms were spacious, clean and had everything we needed."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Hijona Ixona?
The best area to stay in Hijona Ixona is the Old Town, known locally as Alde Zaharra, which is the historic heart of the city.

Alde Zaharra is a charming labyrinth of narrow, pedestrian-friendly streets, lined with traditional Basque architecture. You'll find a wealth of pintxo bars, local shops, and historic buildings, all centred around the Plaza Berria (New Square) and the Gothic Santiago Cathedral. It's an ideal base for exploring the city on foot.

Couples will find Alde Zaharra particularly appealing. The romantic atmosphere of the old streets, the abundance of excellent dining options, and the ease of strolling hand-in-hand to explore the city's sights make it a superb choice for a memorable getaway.

For those seeking a slightly quieter, yet still very central, experience, the area around the Ensanche district, just south of Alde Zaharra, is a good option.
When is the best time to go to Hijona Ixona?
The best time to visit Hijona Ixona is during late spring, from May to June, or early autumn, in September and October.

These months offer pleasant weather, with comfortable temperatures that are ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty and enjoying outdoor activities without the peak summer crowds. You'll find the countryside lush and green in spring, and the autumn brings beautiful colours to the vineyards and forests.

For travellers who enjoy hiking and cycling, late spring is particularly good as the trails are well-maintained and the temperatures are mild. You'll also find local festivals beginning to take place, offering a glimpse into Basque culture.

Early autumn is excellent for those interested in culinary experiences, as it coincides with the grape harvest in many nearby vineyards and the availability of fresh seasonal produce.
