We've stayed at this property many times over the years.
From a distance it certainly has the wow factor, but as the years roll on the property is starting to fall into disrepair which is incredibly sad.
Whilst the views are fabulous and the village is a hidden gem, The Watch House is starting to lose it's sparkle.
On this particular visit the lower garden was waist high in weeds and unusable. Most of the furniture has seen better days so you will struggle to find a comfy seat that isn't stained, wobbles on uneven legs or is uncomfortable. The toilet seats are all loose which is a very quick and basic maintenance task to fix. The recycling hadn't been removed that had been left by the previous rentals and there was rather a lot of it stacked up by the bins. I dont expect all the windows to be cleaned on every changeover, but there were lots of grubby child-size hand prints on a number of windows.
If my recent stay had been my first stay, I would have been very disappointed. However, we knew what we were going to get.
On a plus, the view you wake up to from the master bedroom is a delight, and once you have unpacked and had a gin or two on the patio, you can ignore the negatives and enjoy your holiday.
Its just a shame that the Watch House is starting to look and feel a little neglected.
