In my 70 years of being on this earth, I have never had such a horrible experience. It started with the check in. I was under the impression that I had paid prior to my arrival, through hotels.com. As soon as I told her that I had paid for two rooms through the website the desk clerk, Laurie became very loud, rude and unprofessional towards me telling me "we don't accept payments from the parties.... she went on to say, "hotels.com has failed to pay us before, so absolutely NO 3rd parties payments are accepted...". Then she goes on to say very loudly that she had tried to run my credit card and she bellows out, that my card had been "DECLINED". In front of my business partner from Canada who I had brought to see Helen.
It was truly a very bad experience and I was treated very disprectfully by Laurie and the manager, who failed to identify her self.
The hotel rooms were minimally cleaned. In February both rooms were set on AC at 61 degrees. Tells me the housekeepers mush hate the place also!! Middle of the winter and no blankets on the beds or in rooms. I understand not making the beds with blankets, but put them in a clean bag and make available in the middle of the winter in the NORTH GEORGIA MOUNTAINS. That seems like a no Brainer.
And finally the beds are HORRIBLE. Not since I was a young adult man in the 1970s staying in Panama City Beach at a $15 a night hotel have I slept on a worst bed. Come Riverbend, learn how to buy beds!!
