We very much enjoyed our week in the Dales, saying at Crossgates.
We very much enjoyed our week in the Dales, saying at Crossgates. The cottage is cosy and well set up for a couple and two kids. The boys loved their twin room. We received a warm welcome from the owners, a clear brief on what we needed to know and some generous edible gifts!
A response to a couple of specific points raised in a previous review.
First, the cottage is of solid stone-wall construction and as such does need ventilation to avoid damp. This is not unusual. We left the dehumidifier on in the hallway throughout the day time, only turning it off when we went to bed. We opened the windows for some fresh air in the morning and when cooking. We had no problems with damp and the cottage was cosy and warm.
Secondly, yes, it's next to a road, but it's hardly busy and overnight we were never woken by cars. Really not a problem.
There's a lovely garden, woodland and patio outside, so in warmer, drier weather that would be a lovely feature.
Kitchen worked well - plenty of space to self-cater.
Thank you

Nice cottage, well presented.
Nice cottage, well presented. Only negative was the lack of any internet service and also no mobile phone signal. But that is the trade off for a nice location. There's a pub in walking distance for evening meals as well
