Mold problems on all the walls and window curtain. Room was cold. Sheets, blanket, pillows all felt cold and damp. No way to regulate room temperature. Only good were wifi, friendly reception guys, and minutes walk to beautiful lake Hoan Kiem. I didn't bother to ask for room change because I saw two other rooms were equally terrible. Bathroom had no vent, also had mold. Shower was either boiling hot or cold.
Fake windows in the pictures.
The room has curtains and a window which open onto... Nothing
Beware.

Reasonable price and fairly close to main areas of interest. The property is a bit hidden away but in a generally quiet side street..... There seemd to be a neighbours dog tied up outside while I was there which barked constantly. There's a scooter garage next door that get going early but not a major issue for me. All in all, a compact hotel which was OK for a couple of days.
We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel which is very nicely located, just out of the busy Hanoi streets. Staff very helpful, stored our luggage during Hagiang loop (this was even before our actual stay at the hotel). Room was great with nice hot shower. Breakfast includes many choices and is tastful. Combined with the low price highly recommended!
I chose the HHCH because of it’s location (it is less than a block away from friends who live in Hanoi). I read some negative reviews about a car wash outside and some general complaints about the noise, but for anyone who’s been to Hanoi before, you’d know: this is the Old Quarter. It’s cramped and loud and beautiful and I love every second and square inch of it! Of 6 different area hotels I’ve spent time in, I’d say this was my second favorite, which is saying quite a lot. The staff are truly amazing. I booked a Ninh Binh day trip through them and it turned out to be an absolutely unforgettable time. When I come back to Hanoi, which I most likely will, I’ll be looking at the HHCH again!

The staff are the nicest part of this hotel, they are so friendly and are always happy to help.
The hotel itself is a little old and is on a road which specialises in cleaning motorbikes and cars so can be a little busy.
It is conveniently based and made a nice base for our stay in Vietnam.
This is a nice hotel with very friendly staff. Its tucked away in the old quarter of Hanoi and is nice a quiet and away from the heavily busy streets. The room we had however did not have any windows which was a little disappointing.
Nice location and kind staff, but some facilities were not good.(Hot water doesn’t last long enough for taking a shower even though the one for washing hands lasts good enough.)(Hair dryer doesn’t work nicely...like stops in 15 seconds.) Also when we checked out, the staff didn’t understand how much we paid in the arrival day. Luckily we had the invoice, so we figured out. We hope the system for the price would be more precisely.
The staff at this hotel is really what makes it. They are sincerely friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is a simple, no-frills hotel that provides for all basic needs, which is all I really ask for. The room was clean, the a/c worked, there were fresh towels. I had my laundry done and it was finished same day. The included breakfast was modest, tasty and healthy with offerings that varied every day. Very conveniently located in Old Town. If you book a room with a balcony maybe consider ear plugs if you are a light sleeper as the street noise can be loud at times. I stopped in Hanoi on my way to visit my family in Ho Chi Minh City and I felt very at home in this hotel. I would 100% stay here again. For the price I don't think it can be topped.
Positives - Nice little hotel. Clean and comfortable for 2 nights. The gentleman on a morning cooks delicious pancakes! Thank you so much for our stay. The staff are super friendly!
Negative - kept waking up as there was quite a lot of noise but nothing the hotel can do as it’s out of their control!
The shower head cannot be adjusted so you can’t move it - hard when boyfriend is 6 ft 5

Good location
The entrance of the hotel is very wet or dirty. There are bikes being washed just outside the hotel entrance during day time. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. However, for tour information, they pushed us to book using their agency and was reluctant to give information about public train or bus services. Also when asked about currency exchange places, they were more eager to exchange by themselves rather than pointing us to a place with better rates.
The room condition was bad. The chair in the balcony was torn. The ceiling was leaking water (there were clear watermarks, pictures included). The bedsheet was not clean. The floor towel was torn. We were given a room on the 6th floor and the air condition was not enough, it was hot inside. After sunset the temperature was bearable. The hotel assistant lady offered us another hotel, which was even worse (by looking at the picture online). We were not there long except to sleep at night so we did ok. Hope there are other better hotels in the location at this price.
Great value for money
From the time we walked in they made us feel welcome, very friendly staff rooms were clean and breakfast was nice.
The wonderful staff helped us in places to go and see and things to do.
Highly recommend 😊
