The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites

The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites

10/10 Excellent
"We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. One of the things we loved about The Lord Nelson is it’s history. This historic hotel has done a wonderful job preserving and showcasing its heritage, particularly in the entrance lobby. It was fascinating to take a few moments to look around and appreciate the history and character of this beautiful hotel. The area was great within walking to Citadel Hill, shopping and numerous restaurants in downtown Halifax. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. We needed something powerful considering the heat wave during our stay. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating, and we really appreciated the complimentary bottled water — a thoughtful extra touch. The only minor issue was that the bathtub did not drain properly, but this was a small inconvenience compared with all the positives. Overall we had a great experience and definitely stay here again."

Courtyard by Marriott Halifax Downtown

Courtyard by Marriott Halifax Downtown

8/10 Good
"Stayed three nights in August. At first I was disappointed that there was no underground parking, but the lot across the street was very convenient and cheaper than the underground option. The location is absolutely perfect for taking in the vibrant Halifax waterfront scene. The room was what I’d expect from a Marriott: clean, great view, although I’d prefer if the vent in the bathroom worked. The main issue was that both elevators were out of order for the duration of our stay. The many flights of steps were not a fun way to start or end our long days of touring around. However, Melanie, at the front desk, went above and beyond to compensate us for the inconvenience, which was very much appreciated. I understand that mechanical failures may happen, or human errors occur, but the way they are dealt with are what separates a good from a bad experience, and Melanie was completely professional and competent in dealing with us and Expedia on our behalf."

Best Western Plus Chocolate Lake Hotel

Best Western Plus Chocolate Lake Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"Best Western Chocolate Lake was such a great place to stay. Let’s start with the lake in the rear of the property. Gorgeous and peaceful. Many guests went in with paddle boards or water loungers. Breakfast was hot and great. They also had to-go containers if you wanted to take breakfast with you. Parking was included as well. Our room was clean and they provided shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and lotion. Staff was great, friendly and very helpful. It’s a 10 min. drive from the boardwalk and the price was great. Will definitely be returning."

"Hotel was in a great location. One block away from main attractions! Hotel was everything expected. My only concern was the toilets should be upgraded to be higher. Too low for seniors."
