About this property
Ocean View Cabin located on Organic Coffee Farm with Hiking Trails
This is a beautiful jewel of a house. It's all one level and close to shopping, activities such as hiking, biking, zip lines, farm tours, horseback riding, art school, dining and Haleakala National Park. Just an eight to ten minute drive to white sand beaches. This 19.89 acre shade-grown coffee farm borders a forest preserve and is completely private. A stream runs through the property attracting a variety of wildlife. There are amazing panoramic ocean, jungle and mountain views and a seasonal waterfall view. Guests have the option of booking a personal tour of the farm and grounds which includes a short hike to see the ancient Hawaiian pictographs, an artesian spring and gives an overview where all the private trails, natural pools and picnic areas are. Swimming is an option during the times the stream is flowing sufficiently. Reservations include full access to all the grounds and amenities on the farm. The cottage is located over a mile from the main farmhouse and is completely private. It includes: 300 Mbps Wi-Fi, W/D and Detergent, Barbecue with Charcoal provided, Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Range, Microwave, Juicer, Blender, Toaster Oven and Pour-Over and French Press Coffee equipment provided. There is a spacious shower with ocean view. Hair Dryer, Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash provided. Fully furnished with King-sized bed with Queen Sofa Bed. Cable Smart TV with Amazon Prime. Iron and Ironing Board. Beach Towels, Beach Chairs and Cooler Provided. Fruit and Herb picking (seasonal) privileges included. Plenty of secure parking. Close to shopping and North Shore beaches. We provide fruit from the farm (when available) and fresh flowers when available from the farm. Optional: Historical/Jungle tour: 1 to 2 hours and includes an overview of all the trails on the private grounds, archeological sites, the history of the valley and the medicinal uses of the jungle plants. Guests must have to tour before exploring on your own. Organic farm and pesticide free area for those with sensitivities. All one level for those with some mobility issues. Not wheelchair accessible though!
Guests have access after they’ve had the tour to miles of private trails on the grounds of Maliko Estate Coffee where the cottage is located. Swimming in the stream when it’s flowing is a highlight. Great bird watching too!
Guests may be greeted upon arrival, offered a jungle tour and are bid farewell on departure day too. Owners are nearby if they're needed and have advice and recommendations for Maui activities.
The historic paniolo town of Makawao is only 2 miles away. The paniolo are the Hawaiian cowboys and they still can be seen riding their horses or stopping by the local cantinas for a beer after riding the upcountry ranches. Great shopping and dining is found in Makawao, Haiku and nearby Paia. Makawao is considered one of the best art scenes in the nation.
You will definitely need a car. You won't need a four-wheel drive though. The roads are fine. There is bus transportation but not near the farm which is too rural and uncrowded for a bus stop.
Owner Sydney Smith is a designer by trade and also a farmer. She is a member of the Maui Coffee Association and the chair of the Maui County Ag Working Group, the policy advisory body for the Maui County Council.

The cabin is perfect in every way. Well stocked, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. Our host Sydney was fantastic. Great location, beautiful area. If ever we’re in Maui again, we wouldn’t hesitate to re-book.
The cabin was great for our family of four (two teenagers) with enough room for what we needed and an excellent location for exploring the upcountry. Sydney was gracious with her time and responsive when we needed something.
You have a treasure in this home stay. Our host is exceptionally kind. Some of the most complete and tasteful amenities we’ve experienced in a home stay.Sidney has created a remarkable experience. Thank you.
Wonderful cottage, incredible views, gracous host in a gorgeous part of the Maui upcountry. The setting on the organic coffee farm, on top of a ridge, overlooking a beautiful valley and across to the pacific is breathtaking. The host is a superb communicator and generously offered a tour of her magical farm. This was a wonderful experience and helped make our first visit to Maui unforgettable. Highly recommend this lovely cabin.
Lovely single room home set in elevated tropical surroundings with terrific long view to ocean. We highly recommend the location and property tour by owner
Beautiful mountaintop view all the way to the ocean, no need for AC with cool tradewinds. The location takes you easily to the Road to Hana or to Haleakala National Park. Super clean and well appointed, charming decor loved it!
The cabin was clean, comfortable, and quiet, with a stunning view from the balcony, and beautiful grounds. It is centrally located, offering easy access to many of Maui's activities, including Haleakala National Park and the road to Hana. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat in a picturesque location, it would be hard to beat this!
We had a fantastic stay in this cozy bungalow. The views are amazing and the decor was lovely. We saw deer walking a trail right underneath the deck and of course there are lots of chickens and roosters! The tour of the property was very beautiful and informative Would definitely stay here when visiting Maui again. Thank you so much Sydney!
The coffee cabin was perfect for our short stay in upcountry Maui. The location was amazing & peaceful, and it was the perfect size for 4 people. Sydney is a great host, and the included local fruit/coffee, personal tour & access to the swimming holes were a wonderful addition to our stay. I highly recommend Sydney’s cabin to anyone looking to stay in upcountry Maui!
Wonderful cottage in the hills. The cabin itself is well appointed and very comfortable. Sydney was very responsive to any questions or concerns, and gave us a very informative and interesting tour of the large property on which the cabin is situated.
Just a wonderful spot away from hustle and bustle. Cabin has a thoughtful and personalized style that makes home rentals so special. Sydney gave us an incredible tour of the property and the knowledge and care she displayed is very commendable. An incredible view off the deck let us watch the weather every morning and evening. We would come back for sure.
We love staying in the Paia area and usually stay closer to the ocean. This booking was a short one, so we thought we would try something different. It was an excellent choice. great views, up country living, sounds of roosters, birds, butterflies. The host was very responsive and even offered to take us on a brief tour. A special place and when we come back to Maui will will stay again.
We absolutely loved this place. Sydney is amazing and a wealth of knowledge about the area. We loved the tour of the property and learning about it's history!

The cottage was perfect for a couple. Kitchen was stocked with useful items to allow cooking and eating on site. Sydney was a great host and communicated with us through the tsunami scare in August 2025. She was even gracious enough to let us have additional family members over during the evacuation, as they were staying at a resort on the coast. The land is lovely, and the story of how she and her husband have rehabilitated it into what it is today is inspiring. Our only minor gripes were proximity to a semi-busy road and lack of A/C, but our 3 nights here were the highlight of our whole 2 week Hawaii trip. We would definitely stay again. Mahalo, Sydney!
Home and owner are simply amazing! The house is thoughtfully stocked, spotlessly clean, and located on the most amazing and indescribable land. You will never get the chance to see and hike a space like this in total privacy, don’t miss out on that. Sydney was incredibly kind and helpful before and during our stay. Hand down our favorite stay on the island!!!
Pictures and descriptions do not give this property justice. The cottage is cute and well equipped (coffee! a blender! juicer! so many towels! laundry! dishwasher! chairs you can take to adventure!) but what steals the show is the lush view from the balcony during the day and the stars at night. I highly suggest getting a tour from Sydney of the property, so you can see the pools and waterfalls and all the delightful agriculture they have on site.
If you want to explore the property, you will need solid shoes with a grippy sole, and maybe a rash guard and/or long pants depending on the season and your tolerance for bugs, but there is bug spray and flashlights available to you in the cabin.
Sydney is an incredibly gracious and generous host, personable and a strong communicator. We did not want for anything, and she went above and beyond for us during a bit of a traveler crisis (some limited resources available on the island).
I cannot recommend this property enough and I hope you enjoy it too - but don't tell too many friends, it should remain a secret gem for as long as possible... I cannot wait to return.
We spent 5 nights in the jungle and enjoyed the whole range of Maui weather, wind, rain, thunder (!), sun, warm, perfection. Sidney’s unit is very unique and almost perfect for everything we wanted. Peace and quiet, weather excluded, we lived it with our tour starting us off. Such amazing property, hikes, swims, collecting avocados and lilikoi, plus more.
Sidney is the perfect host/historian/treasure chest of knowledge. Her tour of the property includes 30 years of history of the area, plus so much more. She was on to of all of our questions, ready just in case the power went off, and there at the send of a text. We felt cared for.
The house was just what we needed. Great size kitchen, easy to clean up after one of our dinner projects, the grill was ready, the coffee, (following Sidney’s carefully laid out process) was great. We saw where the beans grew…a first for us.
We will return ASAP…..
