Spacious and wonderful host
The property is exactly as pictured. Hans was very responsive, he waited and explained thoroughly the place to us. We only stayed for 3 nights. We have plenty of spaces for 4 adults. Bring your own shampoo and extra towels, if needed. We don't have any problem finding parking spaces in front of the house. The area is quite outside of Haarlem, so you'd need a car to go around, although parking spaces in Haarlem are quite limited. Otherwise, it may be costly with public transportation. Overall, we have a good time exploring other cities around Amsterdam.

Nicely done apartment
Hans meet us at the door and showed us the apartment and all the features before heading in his way which was great. Good use of the space and having flexibility in bed layout was great for us. 10 minute drive to the closest rail station and a 20 minute ride into Amsterdam was easy. Even had a friendly cat show up in the rear patio garden space to hang out with some. Thank you Hans!

Not well maintained as broken backsplash and other infrastructure neither repaired or well maintained. Communication with owner good but despite arrival time mutually agreed, not ready by that time. Cleanliness uneven and out of soap which was replenished.

The guests left 24x7 the light on and tv in the living room, also when they leave the house. The house was very dirty. They put trash in my cabinet with the bedsheets. One bedsheet was dirty with shitspot and they justput it on the ground and did not wash it in the wasmachine. For me never again

A nice alternative to Amsterdam
Haarlem is very nice and much less busy than Amsterdam, but it’s still very easy to get in to Amsterdam or Zandvoort Beach with Bus 300 and trains running very frequently. The host was very helpful although we had to wait on the street for 30 minutes past the agreed arrival time while the preparations were completed. Also, while the property itself is fine with plenty of space, in our opinion it needs a deep clean at least once by a professional cleaner just to get it back up to scratch, and we found two dirty towels from the previous occupant. (The cleanliness issues have affected our rating, which would otherwise be 4 stars). It should also be noted that the spiral stairs to the upper two levels are very tight and not at all suitable for people with mobility issues. Overall good, but could be much better with a little effort.

Haarlem is superior place to visit and great host.
A taste of Dutch living in a charming town. Hans was an exceptional host who went out of his way and we really appreciated his kindness! Kitchen is well equipped, one toilet in ground floor, full toilet with separate shower and large bath above. Rooms are basis but great value.

Wonderful place in Haarlem
Our family of 5 stayed here 2 nights while we were exploring Amsterdam and it worked out perfectly for us. Very easy to get to with public transportation. We appreciated Hans' flexibility as we changed our initial arrival time but he was there to meet us and go over helpful information. It was great having grocery stores just a few minutes walk away so we could make our own meals. The only suggestion I have that would have helped us is to supply some containers with lids that could be used for storing leftover food in. There were some small containers/glass dishes but I couldn't find lids for them. Overall, a great stay and we would stay here again.

Not up to VRBO standard.
While Hans the owner was very nice and met us for with the key for our arrival, the apartment is in serious need of cleaning and organizing. The kitchen was stocked with most of what is needed but was not organized and the cupboards needed cleaning. The blinds for the windows on the main floor were broken and the stair rail going up the circular stairs had a spindle that was broken - unsafe. There was a 'catch all' by the sliding doors to the patio that truly "caught all" and needed to be vacuumed out. Having a washer/dryer was lovely however climbing to the third floor to do it was not. The patio needed to be trimmed and maintained as it has potential to be charming but it was not. While Hans provided a manual of the neighborhood the information regarding public transport was not up to date which makes it unusable. We use VRBO alot and just found that this rental was not up to the normal VRBO standards. The owner (while very nice) needs to take his role as the landlord of a rental unit more seriously and take notice of the repairs that should be done (the backsplash of the cupboards was smoky glass and was cracked and broken). The location was fine as it was close to all shops and the neighborhood was quiet. Thank you.

It was close to market for groceries, liquor, beer and wine. Also just as close to bus stop.
Property was everything we expected, no issues and felt very safe. Hans the owner met us there on arrival and went over all the details of the home and where to catch the bus, location of market etc. (very helpful) We went into Amsterdam every day, which was a 10 minute walk to bus stop, then a 15 minute bus ride and then only 15 more minutes gets you to Amsterdam Central Station. Everything was walking distance from there. We also used buses to get to Zaans Schans and Volendam. Excellent bus and train system, waiting time was rarely more than 8 minutes. Overall great experience staying at this rental.

Convenient location to Haarlem, Schiphol and Amsterdam
House was located in a quiet neighborhood in Haarlem. We did not rent a car and were able to travel around quite easily using only public transit. House was less than 10 minute walk from shopping and bus stop. Hans met us at the house and explained everything. House is fully equipped. Bed linens and towels were provided.

Big and comfortable
It was a wonderful surprise to see we had the whole house to ourselves. We were able to cook our own meals in the well equipt kitchen and do our dishes in the dish washer. The shops were walking distance so we didn't have to tackle the traffic and find parking. Our host Hans welcomed us when we arrived and explained everything. I would highly recommend this accommodation

A great house, located for Haarlem and Amsterdam.
The house is clean and well positioned in a quiet part of Haarlem, near to the shopping mall. We needed the extra beds and so we had 2 doubles and two singles set up for us. It is a bit of a trek to Haarlem centre but the Dutch transport system is fabulous. We spent one day in Haarlem and one day in Amsterdam. The house has all you need from bed space to kitchen equipment to audio/visual equipment and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Dieses Haus müsste dringend gereinigt und gestrichen werden.Die Wände waren teilweise sehr schmutzig.Überall war es sehr sehr staubig und an den Decken und Wänden hingen Staubfäden.Die Küche war schmuddelig,Glasfliesen im Eingng und in der Küche waren kaputt und die Türe waren auch schmutzig.Die Schlafzimmer bestanden aus Klappbetten und Sperrmüll.Nur ein Zimmer hatte ein richtiges Bett und das Bad war sauber geputzt.Die Lampe im Esszimmer hatte 1 cm lange Staubhaare.Wir sind nach 1 Nacht wieder nach Hause gefahren.

Tolle Ausgangslage für Besuche in Haarlem, Amsterdam und Zandvoort
Wir hatten eine schöne Zeit in Haarlem. Die Unterkunft liegt recht zentral, mit dem Bus ist man in ca. 15 Minuten im Zentrum von Haarlem. Auch Amsterdam und der Strand in Zandvoort sind in ungefähr 30 Minuten mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln zu erreichen. Die Einrichtung der Wohnung ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen und könnte etwas umfangreicher sein (z. B. fehlten Kleiderschrank und Nachttisch in den Schlafzimmern) und auch in Bezug auf Sauberkeit ist noch Luft nach oben. Ansonsten war das Einchecken unproblematisch und der Vermieter erreichbar, wenn wir Fragen hatten.

Great place for friends or Family to explore Haarlem, Amsterdam and Zandvoort
The House is located between Busstations that bring you within a 3-10min walk either to Haarlem Center and Amsterdam or to the sea in Zandvoort aan Zee. Also a shopping mall is just a 5min walk from the house, which was really convenient. Also the equipment of the house (esp. kitchen) left no wishes open. Even a bath tube was there. The only thing that was a bit irritatting for us in the beginning was that there are personal objects and things in the shelves and cupboards here and there. But this really wasn't much of a problem for us. Also notable to say that the two double beds and one single room are located on 1st floor. Another single bed is located in the 2nd floor, where the room looks kind of like an office and there also is a balcony. All in all we thank you Hans very much for our pleasent stay and wish you all the best, Lukas & friends

Guter Startpunkt für Ausflüge
Wir waren zu viert in der Wohnung und haben genug Platz gehabt in drei Schlafzimmern, Wohnzimmer und Küche mit Essbereich. Fernseher mit niederländischen, britischen, deutschen Programmen. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet. Die Lage ist okay, auch mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln kamen wir mit ein wenig Geduld gut nach Amsterdam und ans Meer. Auch das Stadtzentrum des Ortes Haarlem (8 min laufen + 5 min Bus) ist sehr hübsch zum Schlendern und Shoppen, Entdecken und Essengehen. Die Einrichtung der Wohnung ist schlicht. Für ein paar Tage völlig okay für uns.

Wohnlichkeit und Sauberkeit ungenügend
Leider ist das Objekt kaum gepflegt und extrem unpersönlich und in den Schlafbereichen sogar unzureichend eingerichtet. Dort findet sich nicht mal ein Nachttisch, in einem Raum gab es nicht mal Licht. Die Zimmer sind nicht wirklich sauber, im Bad gibt es Schimmel und auf dem Sofa waren noch die Schokoladenreste des Vormieters vorhanden. Auch in den Zimmern war nur notdürftig sauber gemacht. Es gibt keinerlei "wohnliche" Elemente, in den Zimmern alles extrem einfach. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet, da hat es auch an nichts gefehlt. Man könnte viel machen aus den Räumen, das was da ist ist einfach zu wenig für einen schönen Aufenthalt.
