"This is my honest review:
The exterior of the hotel and lobby are original, with beautiful architecture, and the location is very central. However, the rooms and hallways were outdated and felt unclean—there was black mould in the grout on the bathroom tiles, and the carpets clearly needed a professional cleaning. I understand this may be part of the hotel’s “aesthetic,” but I don’t think there’s any excuse for the room being dirty. Much of the furniture in the room also felt like it needed updating.
The carousel bar was packed every time we went, so we eventually gave up trying to get in (which was one of the main reasons I chose the hotel). It’s also very close to Bourbon St, so walking back after dark didn’t feel like the safest experience.
Overall, nothing about the hotel really stood out to us—it was simply a place to sleep."
