Benchmark in Gulf of Mexico

"Room was clean and nice. Be prepared for the wildlife surround the pool. (Chickens and Iguanas). One thing that I found out was that I caught one of the members of the cleaning staff peering into my room when I had the window cracked. "

"This is my honest review: The exterior of the hotel and lobby are original, with beautiful architecture, and the location is very central. However, the rooms and hallways were outdated and felt unclean—there was black mould in the grout on the bathroom tiles, and the carpets clearly needed a professional cleaning. I understand this may be part of the hotel’s “aesthetic,” but I don’t think there’s any excuse for the room being dirty. Much of the furniture in the room also felt like it needed updating. The carousel bar was packed every time we went, so we eventually gave up trying to get in (which was one of the main reasons I chose the hotel). It’s also very close to Bourbon St, so walking back after dark didn’t feel like the safest experience. Overall, nothing about the hotel really stood out to us—it was simply a place to sleep."

"The room had roaches, it was very dirty, and there was mold in the bathroom. You could see light coming from underneath our door. I could barely breathe after staying in the room overnight. We were all stopped up. Overall, it felt very unsafe and we felt uneasy being there. If you have kids and want a relaxing stay, this is not where to go."

"The room was clean and well equipped but the common areas of the property were old and dirty. It is a great location right on the beach. The pool was dirty and the water was cloudy. Pool chairs were old and dirty. This would be a great hotel if the place was cleaned and maintained better."
