Wonderful.
Staff were super helpful and friendly.
Food was excellent.
Its an isolated, lodge style place with full board included and they offer plenty of activities including wildlife safaris in nearby Bandipur park and a morning nature walk.

Colonial style building in beautiful grounds. Older rooms but the atmosphere was great. Food and bar excellent with good service. Welcome drink much appreciated. Ooty has not kept as much of the old glamour as one might expect, but this hotel has. Expensive by local standards but worth it for a special night on the trip.

This small hotel was delightful.
I felt very welcomed and comfortable. I had a room with a balcony where I could sit and enjoy the view of the town and have some cool fresh air. I mustn't forget to mention the
food! It was prepared freshly and so delicious. The dahl became my addiction but everything was so good. ❤️

The best area to stay in Gudalur is generally along the Gudalur-Ooty Road, particularly in the vicinity of the town centre.
This area offers the most convenient access to amenities and local attractions. You'll find a selection of guesthouses and hotels here, often surrounded by tea plantations, providing a pleasant outlook. While Gudalur itself is a smaller town, this main road is where most of the activity is, with local shops and eateries.
For couples looking for a tranquil retreat, hotels and resorts slightly outside the immediate town centre, but still accessible from the Gudalur-Ooty Road, are an excellent choice. These often boast more expansive grounds, offering privacy and direct views of the Nilgiri Hills and tea estates, great for a relaxing getaway. You can enjoy quiet walks and the natural beauty of the surroundings.
Families might prefer locations closer to the town centre along Gudalur-Ooty Road for easier access to local shops and transport links for day trips. Being centrally located means less travel time to find essentials and a wider choice of local restaurants suitable for all ages.
When is the best time to go to Gudalur?
For most travellers, the best time to visit Gudalur is during the post-monsoon and winter months, specifically from October to March.
During these months, the weather is pleasantly cool and dry, with daytime temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C. This makes it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the region, including tea plantations and spice gardens. The skies are generally clear, offering excellent visibility for scenic views.
This period is particularly good for outdoor activities like trekking and wildlife spotting in nearby reserves. Couples looking for a relaxing escape will appreciate the comfortable climate for leisurely walks and enjoying the serene landscape without the intensity of the summer heat or monsoon rains.
