The best area to stay in Großkoschen is directly around Lake Senftenberg, particularly near the Großkoschen beach and marina.

This area is the heart of activity, offering immediate access to the lake and its recreational facilities. You'll find a range of holiday homes and resorts dotted along the shoreline, many with lake views and direct beach access. The promenade along the lake connects various amenities, including restaurants, ice cream parlours, and boat rental services.

Families will find this area particularly appealing due to the direct access to the lake for swimming and water sports. The shallow entry points at the beach make it suitable for children, and there are often playgrounds nearby. The cycling paths around the lake are also easily accessible, providing opportunities for family outings.

For those looking for a relaxing getaway focused on nature and outdoor activities, the lakeside area is ideal. You can easily spend your days swimming, paddleboarding, or simply enjoying the sunshine by the water.

The best time to visit Großkoschen is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is warm and ideal for outdoor activities.

During this period, the average temperatures are pleasant, typically ranging from 20 to 25 degrees Celsius, making it superb for enjoying the Badesee Großkoschen (lake) and its surrounding beaches. This is a great time for families to visit, as the lake offers opportunities for swimming, paddle boating, and building sandcastles. The nearby family-friendly EuroCamp Spreewaldpark also offers various activities during these months.

Couples looking for a relaxing getaway will also appreciate the summer. The longer daylight hours allow for leisurely walks or cycling along the scenic tracks of the Lausitzer Seenland (Lusatian Lake District). You can enjoy evening meals at lakeside restaurants, watching the sunset over the water. The F 60 Besucherbergwerk (visitor mine) is also open for extended hours, offering interesting tours of the former open-cast mine.

While the summer is the most popular time, the shoulder seasons of May and September also offer good weather with fewer crowds, making them a good option if you prefer a quieter experience.
