About this property
Brig Cottage | East Ruston Cottages. Scratby, Norfolk
The seaside village location, 600m away from the beach means that it is perfect for a dog welcoming Norfolk break. Easy access to the huge beach with a village pub, tea room, takeaway, bakery and shop. Plenty of choices on your doorstep!
ALL ABOUT THE INSIDE Enter into the hallway: A really good size and welcoming hallway with a cupboard exclusively for dogs accessories and plenty of room for boots and shoes too. A pine unit is great for more storage and has a choice of local leaflets and guides for you. Just off this is the ….. Kitchen: A beautifully styled galley kitchen, with wooden worktop and very well fitted out with plenty of crockery and cutlery. Fitted oven plus an electric hob, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, and a fridge all fitted in. There is an additional fridge/freezer in the outside shed with a good amount of space in both. Also just off the hall is the …. Shower room. Fully tiled and fitted, with shower, toilet and heated towel rail. Open plan living/dining area The two sofas provide plenty of seating in this bright and airy room. There is a TV with access to Netflix, Prime etc or switch it off and enjoy the good selection of games. The seaside theme here is really lovely with lots of homely touches and seaside photos. The dining table seats 6 very comfortably and the floor is solid all the way through. All restful colours and lots of light. Perfect to come home to after a day on the beach! Conservatory with views and doors opening onto the rear south facing garden. Sit on the leather sofa here and there are a pair of traditional grandfather chairs to relax in too. Upstairs: There is a door that opens up to the stairs from the living area – traditional cottage style so steep and with a 45 degree turn but they are carpeted and have a hand rail to make getting up and down them easier. These lead to a hall way with a dressing table and views to the rear garden as well as access to the bedrooms. Double bedroom: There is a King size bed in this lovely light room with plenty of storage space, hooks for hanging, a full length mirror and carpeted floor. Twin bedroom: In here there are two single beds with wooden frames and brand new memory foam mattresses, hanging space, bedside tables and lamps. Upstairs Bathroom and shower room. Modern and very well fitted bath and shower cubicle with toilet and sink.
ALL ABOUT THE OUTSIDE The fully enclosed garden has a good size decking area with garden furniture and a secure garden shed for guest use. This contains the BBQ and a freezer (ideal for raw dog feeders – don't forget you can order your raw dog food from our recommended local suppliers with free delivery here). There is also a travel cot, high chair and dog crates (if needed) and the shed provides great storage for any seaside equipment. There is also an outside boiler room ideal for drying wet suits and beach gear, wet dog towels too. Boundary: There are 5ft+ high solid fences to one side and the back. Along the other side is a tall evergreen hedge with mesh bedded within it to stop small dogs getting through. You can relax knowing you are not overlooked anywhere in the garden. Parking: There is room for one car right in front of the cottage, off road and another can be parked very nearby in the off road pull in area.
WILL IT SUIT YOUR DOGS? If your dog is happy with a small amount of surrounding residential noise (and there aren't a lot as the cottage has very thick walls and is set back from the road) then they should be fine. There are no dogs or people that can be seen from the cottage or garden. You will find other dogs being walked along Beach Road. The courtyard garden isn't huge but it is very secure. Once on the beach dogs are allowed off lead year round.

Brig Cottage
We loved our stay here. First of all, the cottage is spacious! We came with our 2 German Shepherd dogs and there was plenty of room to move around. The garden was lovely to sit in and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening sunshine.
Highly recommend the bakery down the road. The beach is super close which makes for some lovely walks, we visited good old Yarmouth only a short drive away and also Winterton-on-sea which is super pretty.
We loved Brigg cottage and would stay again!

A few days away with my dog while my bathroom was being upgraded.
The cottage was clean, cosy and very well equipped. A dedicated dog cupboard had treats, bowls, towels, bedding and spare leads. The beach was a short walk away and stretched for miles. Fantastic bakery just down the road. The venetian gardens in Yarmouth are worth a visit, and the dunes behind them are great for a dog walk. Fish and chips from Monty's in Hemsby were fantastic.

A last minute break
Comfortable, well equipped cottage in a good location for some lovely beaches. The property is tastefully decorated and furnished. We found it very comfortable. The conservatory was a lovely place to have a cuppa and read when the weather didn't allow us to use the lovely court yard garden.

A short break with the dogs
What a delightful cottage. As an original fisherman's cottage of bygone years you would expect some quirky features such as the winding stairs and the low doorways but it all added to its charm. It was spotless, bright and well looked after. It felt immediately comfortable with our two dogs settling nicely. The beautiful beach is a 5 min walk. We'll definitely want to stay at Brig Cottage again. Thank you to Jane the owner and ERC for delivering excellent service.

Brig cottage
Lovely cottage. Very clean. Everything catered for. Close to beach. Easy parking. The only thing is you have to have leads in to get dogs in and out of the car as parking is out the Front.

Lovely cozy cottage
What a clean cozy comfortable cottage. The position was great , only a ten minute walk to miles and miles of glorious beach. Jane the owner has made lots of thoughtful touches for the dogs and the humans. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in this area. The only downside was the dishwasher wasn’t working so we were asked not to use it which meant a lot of time spent washing up!

Lovely, well equipped cottage.
We really enjoyed our stay at Brig Cottage. The cottage is spacious and dog friendly, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is close to the beach, which is about 10 mins walk (the beach is year-round dog friendly) and to a bakery and a nice pub. A farm shop is not far away. The cottage stairs are very steep, and would be difficult for someone with mobility problems. We recommend this for people who want a quiet, dog friendly stay.

Beautiful November break
We had a fabulous time at Brig Cottage. The location is fantastic for beach walks with the hounds. There’s a friendly bakery at the end of the road which is handy for picnics and a walk along the beach to The California Tavern is ideal for a dog friendly meal out.
The communication throughout from East Ruston Cottages could not have been better and there is a strong sense of them wanting you and your canine friends to have the best time. Well done Jane. We will certainly book again.

Couldn't have asked for more
What a fab place Brig Cottage is. Perfectly located, quiet and lovely sunny garden. Cottage was spotless and goodies were an added bonus. Dogs loved the long walks (12 miles on one adventure) and my mum could wander to the shops. Didn't need to drive anywhere as everything was close by. Just what we wanted from a holiday. Thank you

Absolutely lovely
Virtually everything you could possibly need and beautifully clean, we had a glorious week in Brig Cottage. Lovely walks on Scratby beach, Happisburgh Beach and in Bacton Woods followed by lunch in various pubs (including The lighthouse, The Hill House and The Star at Lessingham) Late afternoons sitting in the sun trap garden. Just lovely although could do with an extension lead so you can dry your hair on the landing without having to move everything.

Brig Cottage
First impression was how clean the cottage was. Lovely welcoming touches such as heating on, fresh flowers and goody baskets for us and the dogs. Fully equipped with everything you could want or need.
Cottage was lovely and warm and very cosy.
Only down side was the staircase it was a little steep and twisting which was a challenge but do able and didn't spoil our stay at all.
Had a fantastic week away, would definitely recommend.
Well done ERC, from us and the doggo's

Weekend stay
Brig Cottage is really lovely and situated a very short walk to the beach. The property was spotless and had everything we needed and we enjoyed our short break. The village has great takeaways, a bakery, garden centre, farm shop and plenty of other eating spots a walk or short drive away. The beach is sandy and wide enough to get space if you have reactive dogs like mine.
The only very minor thing is that my dogs found the gravely garden uncomfortable to walk on and the small section of 5ft boundary could be topped up with some trellis maybe so you could let the dogs sit out without constant supervision.
Thanks for a great break, hopefully we’ll be back next year!

A hidden gem..
Initially you could be forgiven for thinking that the location of Brigg Cottage is not ideal. It's close to holiday parks and chalets which during high season gets busy. However I quickly fell in love with everything about Scratby and California.
The beaches are stunning and walks can be tailored to dogs and people of all abilities. We walked for miles in either direction. Once you get past the beach entry points where families congregate you generally have the beach to yourself
Brigg Cottage is set away from the caravan parks but close enough to enjoy the amenities and the bus service is good.
A great base for your doggy holiday

Fabulous!
Lovely cottage - quirky and characterful, but spacious too, clean and welcoming (thank you for the welcome goodies, much appreciated). Particularly enjoyed relaxing in the sunny conservatory with a good book and a cuppa.
On arrival I was initially apprehensive as the road was busier than I had anticipated, but this did not turn out to be any issue at all.
Amazing to be so close to such a gorgeous beach, we walked for miles. Useful shops, tearoom and fab bakery all within walking distance, lots of beautiful places to explore just a short drive away.
Excellent communication and service from East Ruston Cottages too.
Our first holiday in Norfolk and won’t be our last! A big thank you to all.
