"Lovely period hotel- nice food and friendly staff. Also lot of nice restaurants nearby- we went to a Mexican place that was particularly delicious! Only negative was the poor wifi, but despite that would return if ever in the area again"

"Lovely old hotel in centre of Thirsk, be prepared for noisy floorboards. Room was pleasant at side of hotel, so no view. The bathroom was up two steps, difficult at night, if partner is asleep and you do not want to put on a light. One negative, placed the 'we're going green, skip the clean' sign on the door, as we left in the morning. When we came back, the bed had been tidied, coffee and biscuits had been refreshed, very nice, but not what we had expected, as we had left all our stuff out in the room. We would stay here again, family in the area, but next time I will inform the desk we do not need housekeeping."

"Staff in all areas..from Reception, Restaurant, Bar & Housekeeping.. were all welcoming, friendly and more than helpful; particularly important as a lone visitor. Room was immaculate, as were all public areas. Had a lovely stay and I will be back."

"Room was decorated lovely and location were beautiful, staff were very friendly and helpful, outside tables and chairs could’ve done with a bit of a clean and would’ve been good to have some glasses & cutlery but apart from that the stay was perfect. I would recommend staying in the cottage to anyone!"
