We waited nearly an hour for our room to be ready. They said that we could use the spa while we wait so we did. They spa should be shut down. It is a health hazard - mouldy steam room, sauna out of action and murky pool. The hot tub was ok. There was thick dust in between the slats of the bench in the changing room cubicle. On the flipside, the room was big with a separate dressing room, walk in wardrobe.and a slipper bath. There was no toilet roll holder or room for toothbrush on or near the sink. Also nowhere to put the soap in the shower. The room has some damp but the bed was comfy. Unlike ths spa, the room was clean. It was cheap £78 for the night and staff were friendly. It is right near the beach, some shops, two pubs and a reasonably good Indian restaurant.

Rooms and spa could do with some refurbishment as other similar properties have done successfully without losing their character. The building lacked atmosphere throughout. Our bathroom was large (room 202) but had no where to put our toiletries other than a tiny shelf. Also when sitting at the dressing table you can’t see in the mirror above it, these things are easy to remedy but generally the room lacked thought of how to use it. Positive is the staff were friendly and helpful.

Poor WiFi connection we don’t have mobile signal so have to look for WiFi. The room booked they alloted me was smelling bad. The toilet smelled bleach. Suffocating as I am allergic to those stuffs

How to beat January blues!
Just all round great hotel. Friendly staff everywhere….reception, bar, breakfast time. Location ideal. Easy parking. Fantastic room . . Stayed all over Christmas in 2023 too. Loved it then also.

Period hotel. 4 star service
We stayed for one night as a treat and to visit the Lakeland Motor Museum and Aquariam. Overall this is a great hotel with polite and professional staff attention and friendly. Nice room plenty of free parking and well cooked and presented food. The building is period. Some areas need updating however every where it is clean and comfortable. On arrival we were upgraded to a front facing room. Pros • Very pleasant professional staff. Very down to earth and polite. • Clean everywhere • Easy to get to, near town and attractions • Pool, jacuzzi sauna steam room was clean 4foot deep all over and about 8 metres in a shape xx • Lounge bar food menu better than the restaurant • Food lovely in lounge bar area 😋 great dessert All the staff are absolutely lovely Cons • Styled in a Victoria fashion but it has an unfortunately outdated and tired look. Just needs something to give it a wow factor. • Only 1 staff on bar/lounge food area, so wait times are long for a small footflow • Spa pool tired looking old, changing rooms need a refurb very basic • Restaurant menu odd and spoiled a visit there. They have private rooms call carriages. • there where a couple of dirty glasses on the table • Internet absolutely shocking was down all evening •staff couldent order deserts. Room 115 is old style but good. Bed towel etc all great quality. The price was reasonable. I would visit again and recommend this hotel. Its not far from the m6 and lakes

I booked a single room but was upgraded to a lovely large double corner room with 4 poster. Very friendly welcome, the young lady escorted me to the room. Full of old style warmth comfort and friendliness.

Could praise this place enough! From start to finish it was very pleasant! The staff eeee very welcoming . The rooms were an absolute delight and everything was so clean and tidy! Definitely will be coming again that’s for sure ! :)

The Grange Experience
The building was exceptionally clean, warm and quiet. Loved the staff service and professionalism. The bedroom was big enough like we expected it to be. We shall go back again soon.

Nice quiet weekend.
Lovely hotel, great food, nice bar. Service really good. It’s an old property, it shows in places, but has to be expected. Weather wasn’t great, the area was pretty quiet. Could imagine the whole area being busier in summertime. Overall, enjoyed the stay.

2 night stay...1st night ok but the fan in the bathroom is making a terrible noise and the light doesnt work..room 105. After the room was serviced the door wasn't closed! Only a £1000 Mulberry bag in the room.luvkily nothing taken.Breakfast is really bad keeps running out..and it costs £15! Poached eggs were great though. Overall..worth the money? No.Is it 4 star? The decorators do a good job but the day to management is lacking...

Lovely staff at the bar and restaurant. Very accomodating and have a lot attention to detail. Especially the lady serving rea and coffee in the mornings, we didnt ask her name. The gentleman at the reception was also exceptional. The bar and lounge area is peaceful - we spent an evening playing board games alongside our drinks. The hotel itself is an absolutely beautiful building. The spa experience was a bit disappointing, even though to relax is the main reason we came. The got tub was colder than the pool. It would have been nice if somekne had shown us, or told us at check in how to use the steam room and sauna; we had bokked a time slot but it was not working, kayer to find out we just had to lress a button outside on the wall. Every spa we have been to it is done by staff so we missed our slot because we did not want to be pressing buttons not knowing what they do. On the day there was only one staff member at the spa so we know she already had a lot on her hands. We booked the hea, back and neck massage was great, but only one of us had our neck massaged. Loud sounds above us of what seemed to be furniture dragged across a floor woke us up at 7am. The window in the room was rattling with every gust of wind, and the curtain hooks struggling to stay in the wall. We never book the most expensive room in the hotel forna first visit to know if it will be worth coming back. It is a lovely hotel, lovely staff, minute attention to details would make it perfect

Weekend in Grange-over-Sands
Very nice old Hotel, in a great location in Grange-over-Sands. Restaurants and Railway Station walkable. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable and good sized room with great shower. Fabulous view of the Bay from our room. The Hotel is old and perhaps a bit tired. Breakfast service was not great, on a busy Saturday morning there was a lack of cooked breakfast. The sausage and bacon were not well cooked at all. On Sunday morning, the sausage was almost raw. More worryingly, when I checked the fire exit opposite our room, 211, it had laundry trolleys on each landing, partially blocking the fire exit. There was also a Henry Hoover laid on the ground, a trip hazard. I pointed this out at reception on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning, although the hoover was gone, the laundry trolleys were still there. Poor fire safety and potentially dangerous. Overall the hotel is fair to good, with helpful friendly staff. 6/10

Great hotel and we would go back
Lovely hotel - nice big room and dressing table, bed and great bath! Just tiny points. Dim the lighting in the dining room- it’s too bright at night. Leave tea and coffee on tables at breakfast for guests to help themselves. It ties the staff up too much going round with drinks plus you have to wait. We loved it and would definitely go back!

There was a wedding at the hotel but I was not told when I booked my stay. Unfortunately that resulted to lot of noise during our first night stay. Also the hotel receptionist handled the situation very poorly when I complained about the loud noise.

Nice Hotel - Could Do Better!
Our Ruby Wedding Anniversary Very helpful receptionist - warm greeting. Upgraded our room (due to a medical condition) when we were unable to use a room with only a shower. No info about a coach party for 4 days of our stay and no evening restaurant menu or dining for normal guests. Bar food overpriced and only Tapas items. Morning breakfasts - Day 1 Greeting was curt - shown to table (only greeted as "Sir" with no reference to my wife even existing) Food good - coffee luke warm. Day 2 - indifferent greeting - kept waiting. Food good - Waitresses good - Manager & male waiters had an attitude (Delusions of Grandeur!) Day 3 - Shown to table and requested coffee - returned to table with breakfast plates, one coffee cup had walked no and after waiting for 10 minutes we asked the head waiter for coffees and a cup. Our request was acknowledged but ignored! 10 mins later a waitress asked if we needed anything? Eventually a coffee cup and pot of coffee arrived 5 mins later after almost finishing breakfast. POOR and aloof service at best by male waiters! Bedoom - First impression it was clean & well presented. Bathroom - cheap hardboard door. The bath, sink & toilet were spotless, however the glass shower screen did not touch the side of the bath and there was clear mouldy filler on the outside. The long edge of the bath had no grout / filler & side panel cracked and not fastened. Spar / pool area - not used - from outside view - cheap door & 200mm water damage visible.

Really dirty room and toilet. Changing rooms in the spa area dirty and rusty. Floors next to the pool dirty and cushions on the deck chairs stained. Steam room did not work.

Review - Grange Hotel, Grange Over Sands, Cumbria
I booked a double room overlooking the sea and surrounding coastal region. The room was very light and spacious and the bed comfortable - I slept well. Grange Over Sands is well placed for driving to the Lake Districts and or taking a train to Carlisle to visit Carlisle Castle. Staff are friendly, especially Emma and Greg who went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. Highly Recommended.

Terrible cleanliness and the hotel is in a very poor condition. Not what you would expect of a four star hotel. Extremely disappointed we booked this. The worst hotel we have ever stayed in.
