Fratarica. This beautiful "double waterfall" is used for canyoning. Great place in Soca valley, Slovenia.

It is almost unbelievable how such a small country like Slovenia can have so many amazing places to visit. A lot of them are well known tourist magnets, but this humble little waterfall actually took us two days to find. Sometimes you put in a lot of effort in search of a place and when you finally arrive it turns out it wasn't all that special. But this one was worth it 😊 #europe #slovenia #bovec #green

Wonderful hotel, beautifully located. Make sure you book Lake View! Very happy that we did go at this time of the year. Lake Bled is beautiful in the Winter, not just in the summer. We could walk and eat anywhere quietou and romantically around the lake!

Peaceful apartment in beautiful setting

Well equipped and furnished unique apartment sitated on the top of a hill with fantastic views. It was so lovely and quiet. We loved relaxing on the roof terrace. Jurij was very helpful, left us a tasty bottle of wine and even lent us his mountain bikes!

Cities near Goriska and Karst

The surprise was the Sala della Musica (Music Room), a veritable treasure trove of historic musical instruments from woodwind to stringed going back to the 10th century. It was fascinating, not least of all to view a forerunner of the bagpipes that the Irish and Scots have claimed for decades. Their piece de resistance however, is a bone flute, claimed to be the oldest musical instrument in the world. They have a local musical group that plays, it must be something special, but we will never get to hear them.

Take the road beyond Fusine (closed in wintertime) towards the Laghi and this emerald mountain lake with grant views is your reward. There are several spots where you see the water bubbling upwards, vulcano style, which fits perfectly with the idyllic scenery.

The hike around this upper lake takes a good one and a half hour, depending on how many benches you want to try out. There is a connecting trail to the lower lake as well - will try that next time!
