OK for the money, but very limited facilities; no air-con or fridge. Balcony decking (not part of the room but accessible...) dangerously deteriorated in parts. An otherwise polite staff member 'accidentally' charged me twice for items included with meal, bouncing a $28 bill to $42.50. I paid by card but received refund in cash which suggests a lack of oversight and/or training.

Very good for the price. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Meals good value and very tasty. Would stay again. In the centre of the town.

Our booking was double-booked thru a failure technology somewhere. We (2) accepted managers offer of a single room and made do. Manager and staff very helpful with extra bedding etc and even reduced the price for us. Would still stay there again.

Stayed there with some mates on a bike tour and had a great experience. It was an old pub with character, dry and clean and staff were very friendly even through this covid crap which has shut nearly half the town.

The property did not live up to the images on expediait did not have On-suit bathrooms the room was small and untidy parking was not available room would have been above a public bar area.

Bribie to Tumbarumba
The Great Central is an awesome establishment that I regularly stay at on my frequent trips between Bribie Island in Queensland and Tumbarumba on the Snowy Mountains Western slopes in NSW, a 1,500k one way road trip. The food cooked up by the Owner Tony is sufficient to keep bringing me back however, the accommodation is spotless and very reasonable priced which is further reason.

The grand old lady gave us a warm welcome. The restaurant was just lovely. The staff were really friendly. Although We did ask for a fan, it was promised, but it never came 😣😣

Great pub stay experience
Basic, clean and comfortable overnight stay with a difference. Although the bathroom may be down the hallway, the room and facilities were very clean and pleasant. A free breakfast was available in the common kitchen area with a reasonable self serve selection of cereals and toasts. The beat surprise was the ambience and quality of food at the dining room and bars. Tony, the manager and chef, runs a tight ship and provides a quality odishes that would be hard to match at most latge city restaurants. Overall, a surprisingly pleasant stay and the best value stay of our trip.

Very limited bathroom comfort and condition, the rooms are OK but no sink in mine so had to rely on the communal facilities that were very public with door opening to the hallway and no ceilings to contain sounds.

The Great Central is classic pub accommodation, which I love. The rooms are clean, the staff friendly. I didn't get to try the restaurant, but the meals in the bar, and the lunches in the cafe area are good value. I look froward to staying there again!

The Hotel was attractively renovated but sadly let down by being freezing and having share bathrooms and a communal kitchen. The 2 and a half stars reflects the reality of the Hotel that has the potential to attract much higher prices, if the owners could afford to update the plumbing and heating. Staff were friendly and the room was clean. The bed was comfortable and the hotel provided electric blankets. The shared bathroom was too cold and unwelcoming to warrant the use of our towels. Unfortunately we booked in at the end of winter, which meant that with the 14 foot ceilings I went to bed with my clothes and coat on. If you are looking for a budget hotel in a central position this is the placed for you but wrap up warm if you go in Winter. A basic breakfast was provided.

Thank you for your feedback. We have the upgrading of the bathrooms and installing heating to the common areas as a top priority before next winter. Unfortunately these old building were not wired to take the electrical load that individual heaters or air conditioners in each room would draw. Best stay in the area.
A fantastic Aussie hotel, that is one road off the highway with absolutely no traffic noise at night..and run by exceptionally friendly staff. The meals we had where the best we had had on our ten day road trip and the bloke running the pub is a down to earth host who has the best interests of his guests at heart. A very friendly touring motorcycle venue as well.
