Situated a stones throw from the port, scallywags, with its delightful villas, has all the basic amenities you need for an amazing stay on Gili Air (including conditioner which was hard to come by!). The staff were lovely and we would particularly like to thank Arya for his hospitality and close attention to ensuring we had a great stay. Every night of our stay, there was a delicious BBQ offering local food, including lobster which could be scarce, subject to the fisherman’s catch. The beach is superb with plenty of sun loungers. Unfortunately, the diving centre was closed during our visit but there were plenty of other options on the island. Thanks again to the wonderful staff, we will be back soon! - Kate and Lorenzo

Love staying there
Had a great room, plenty of space. Comfortable bed, great shower and aircon. Beach was just over a road wich only saw cycles and the odd horse. Great view of the sea while eating breakfast. BUT the smell of the rubbish waiting to be removed from the beach was not great. Not the hotel fault but needs something done about it.

I would like to give this hotel a better rating as the rooms are nice, the staff are good and the breakfast ( which is serves at the beach) is also good. The drawback is that it is located next to the mosque which has call to prater several times a day including sunrise which was 04:40 for us. The prayers are delivered through loud PA systems and last around 1hr

A gem of a place. Staff are fantastic. You have to walk to the beach front for your breakfast less than 10 mins no bother. Free cycles to get around the islsnd. Loved it.

place is hidden away after you get over the small alleys, but good when your there. great air conditioning, free pool towel, and free sunbed and beach towel next to restaurant. breakfast was great, not sure about their sausages, one was bit pink in middle. great staff The call to prayer at 4:30 from the local mosque was a bit loud first thing in morning when you may like to sleep in after a night out, but i do realize it;s their culture.

Wonderful private villa in this island
Everything is going well,nice villa,nice staff,Amazing welcome drink.there are six bicycles for free.a local mini market nearby,very convenient.Comfortable bed but without mosquito net,but it's okay.we love the pool! and cook ourself!

Good comfortable room & bed . We liked the private open shower which had lots of pressure & hot water. The walk to the breakfast buffet was a 10 minute walk through the village. The buffet had lots of choices for breakfast. The staff handled our service requests with efficiency and a smile. We enjoyed our 2 weeks stay with Scallywags.

Comfortable stay.
The decor of the room and the garden area is great. The staff is friendly and Gili Air Island is a great place with plenty of water sports etc and leisure activities. Beach front clubs are ideally located. However, the rooms were in the interior of the island and almost 15 minutes' walk away, The approach to the rooms was not great.

We had a great stay here, staff were exceptionally helpful and looked after us. I left my credit card at the office by accident when checking in and they kept it safely for me. Would recommend and stay here again, thank you very much!

Scallywags Smugglers is PERFECT
Scallwags Smugglers was AMAZING! We booked it without knowing that they also had the beach club and diving school attached which was such a brilliant surprise. Not only did we have a lovely, quiet and beautifully equipped room to come back to each evening, but we had a place right on the beach to have breakfast, lie on a lounger (which are free if you're staying at a Scallywags place) or rent snorkel gear! Their snorkel kit is the best, we had some trouble with a leaky set out on Gili Meno, but all of the Scallywags kit was top notch. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Take me back!!

Great room tcked away in perfect location.
Room lovely, staff friendly, breakfast amazing with so much choice, pool perfect and slightly shaded, bikes to hire great, added bonus that the sunbeds near restaurant are included in room price along with towels. One thing to note us that there is a 5 min walk to breakfast, but perfectly doable and healthy-feeling, but better with the bike hire.

A given hotel on Gili Air!
I couldn't have been more satisfied, the staff was amazing, so helpful and friendly, the facilities were unique, exotic and luxurious (especially when considering the price). Open air shower, your own private little courtyard, stacked minibar with the same prices as the restaurant. Even the TV channels were good! Fast and stable Wi-Fi, AC could be kept on 24/7 unlike some other places, so the room was always cool. Cheap bike rental service, free movie rental, free beach towels and breakfast at their Restaurant (which in essence is another establishment) Phenomenal!

Good hotel - great beach club
Very good stay. Not on the beach but a short 10 min walk to excellent (included) beach club with free (for guests) umbrellas and chairs where we spent almost all of our time! Recommended.

Love the Scallywags family
Had a great stay at 2 of the Scallywags properties on Gili Air. Lovely atmosphere, super-friendly and helpful staff (with the exception of the staff responsible for booking ferries that took their own sweet time, as a result of which I lost my seat on the ferry). The Beach Club is on a nice part of the island, and one can get drinks and food on the sun beds. The restaurant does have scope for improvement on the food, though. There are a lot of other great food options on the island. Rooms are a good size, well maintained, very clean and house keeping was great too. Mini bar is well stocked as well. Getting to breakfast in the mornings is a bit of a pain except if you avail of their free bicycle rentals (and if it doesn't rain). Bring ear-plus for the prayers on loudspeakers at the mosque next door (multiple times a day). All in all, a great stay. I would definitely go back and stay with them.

A little tucked away from the beach but the quality of service and cleanliness is top notch for the area. The front desk is very helpful and knowledgeable on the are and activities. My only issue is distance to the beach. The beach club does have exclusive chairs for guests only but it is a 10 minute walk away. We rented a bike from Aladdin home stay next door and it was a 3 minute ride to breakfast and the beach

Terrible do not waste your money -
Scalleywags is the only hotel in three weeks of travel in both Bali and the Gili islands that I found a sad, overpriced disappointment. For half the price one can get a room at over a dozen small hotels right on the water with a view, ocean breezes and a pool. Scalleywags is located in a hot, dirty, airless neighborhood five blocks from the water and eight blocks from their advertised 'beach club'. Although I requested a single at booking I was charged for the full price of a double ( staff saying that was all they had) including the charge for two breakfasts each day without any deduction or other option and yet when it came to providing water, welcome juice voucher, or towels they gave me only enough for one. Even then I had to to ask for water! Avoid Scalleywags hotels and beach club- stay instead along the water with breezes and views without the overcharging and blatant garbage tossing. I do not know how they got their rating. It was not at all accurate. The room was clean and air conditioning worked- that is all I can say for it. At Scallywags Beach Club on Gili Air, I watched workers rake the beach and then spend half an hour tossing the garbage collected (including 5 gallon gas cans and large plastic bundles) into the sea. If Gilis are to survive as a destination they must crewte and implement a waste managrment plan.

Great hideaway!
Scallywags smugglers hideaway was a lovely resort with clean rooms and comfortable beds. The staff were very helpful. We got a welcome drink on arrival and breakfast every morning in the scallywags restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Neat and cute in quiet location
Scallywags has several branches in Gili Air, and even more in other Gilis. Now even a diving club. This Smugglers Hideaway was away from super touristy "street" which was great. Downside was having to walk for 15 minutes to their beachside restaurant. Also, bedroom bathroom was very nice but outdoors... Staff was extremely nice and helpful. Liked the neighborhood as well

Delightful Hideaway
Smugglers was a fantastic little spot to hideaway away from the hustle and bustle of the beach. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our morning walk to breakfast (5 mins), seeing the island waking up and beginning its day. The only slight critique I would make is that the staff in the 'hotel' office were not particularly helpful, however it was the middle of Hari Raya when we were there, so that may just have been covering a shift or two. Apart from that everyone was charming and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend

Les photos sont mensongères. Il n’y a pas de piscine. Et la plage en face de l’hôtel est insalubre. Arnaque sur le lieu également: 2 sites de cet hôtel sur l’île : - l’un se situe en bord de mer devant une plage près du port et sale, avec l’ensemble des poubelles de l’île qui sont posées tous les soirs. Donc simple, pour trouver l’hôtel fait suivre les odeurs nauséabondes… - l’autre site est en centre de l’île … juste à côté de la mosquée. Entendez au mieux l’appel à la prière vous y êtes. IMPOSSIBLE d’avoir des vélos. Un coup c’est oui un coup c’est non. Personnel peu disponible et peu serviable. Ça nous change de Bali! Chambres de bord de mer très vieilles et qui ont subi un coup de vieux sans entretien après eux années de Covid. Scandaleusement cher. Je ne comprends pas les bonnes notes des sites de réservation!!!! Sachant que tout est faux. Vive Photoshop! CONSEIL: il y’a vraiment de très très beaux hôtels sur l’île. Donc ne vous trompez pas. Idéalement à privilégier les côtes Est et Ouest qui sont très sympas. Et surtout beaucoup moins insalubres. Ah oui, des surcoûts vous sont facturés alors que sur le site Expédia ce n’est soit pas indiqué, soit pas le tarif annoncé. Vive les touristes pigeons….

Fast neben der Moschee, ergo man wacht jedes mal um 5Uhr auf trotz Ohrenstöpsel und liegt dann mindestens ne halbe Stunde wach bis der Spuck endlich ein Ende hat...für ruhesuchende daher keinesfalls zu empfehlen ansonsten ganz gut

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was comfy and the pool area very relaxing. Staff was super friendly. One thing to note is that one might hear the prayers from the near mosque at night. Overall, we would definitely recommend staying at scallywags smugglers! Excellent hotel! :)

Passamos uma única noite, os funcionários do hotel são muito cordiais. A localização é boa, só tivemos dificuldades de encontrar o hotel pois as placas indicativas são bem apagadas e estava no chão da entrada da rua. Achei um pouco estranho a disposição do hotel, a piscina é separado e só abre com a chave, fica fechado. Mas é uma questão de costume. O restaurante é ótimo e a praia do restaurante é linda!

Kleines Hotel im herzen von Gili Air
Das Hotel liegt im Zentrum der Insel - circa 3 Min mit dem Fahrrad vom dazugehörigen Beachclub entfernt. Im Hotelgebäude gibt es einen Pool und Zimmern mit kleinem Garten. Frühstück sowie weitere Snacks gibt es nur im Beachclub am Strand. Der Beachclub selber ist sehr gut und liegt an einem Strandabschnitt an dem die Gezeiten nicht schlimm sind - somit kann man zu jeder Tageszeit wunderbar am weissen Strand spazieren und im türkisblauen Wasser schwimmen. Uns hat das Hotel und die Lage inmitten der Bewohner von Gili super gut gefallen. Das gibt einem das Gefühl Teil der Gesellschaft zu sein :) Kann mir aber gut vorstellen dass dies nicht für jeden etwas ist. Die Mitarbeiter im Hotel selbst sind sehr hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend. Ich würde jederzeit wiederkommen.
